For the record, I am not a supporter of any camp. I may or may not able to vote this coming may elections due to my work schedule.

Both Tining & Benhur are family friends. I’ve played tennis with Elton & Chad Salimbangon (Benhur’s & Kuya Cesar’s son respectively). I’ve meet Tining & Junie several times in the past. We used to call Benhur as “GM” as in General Manager his designation at CEBECO2. Both are close to my heart so I will remain neutral this coming May 2010.

I just want to point-out some inconsistencies in your post.

    • The lot where the Sport complex was built was DONATED by the Martinez family. It was not paid by the city (municipal at that time) government even by a single centavo.

    • The lot where the proposed “NEW” CITY HALL is being built USED to be owned by the Martinezes but it was sold a few years ago to the Lhuilliers. The Lhuillier’s plan to make it into a mix residential & commercial complex. To attract high pedestrian traffic, the Lhuilliers donated a portion of the lot (at the back of the property, the front is reserve for their commercial project) for the “new” City Hall. Nyora Nilda also donated an equal land area as “tugbang” for the New City Hall.

    • The RTC lot was & never been owned by the Martinezes. The lot was donated by the TORING family. That time ex-councilor Rolly Toring was allied with Junie. Let’s give them (The Torings) credit for their unselfish act.

    • The Polambato wharf project predates us all in this forum. It was even used before the 2nd world war. In the 60’s Mayor Almirante (the father of incumbent Counselor Yoyong Almirante) improve & extended the wharf. Dili pa politico si Junie adto. But it was only at the time of Clavel that significant improvement was made like the single RORO birthing ramp and then another birthing ramp was made 2 years ago.

Ever wonder why your 4 examples were not brought up by the opposing camp – because it will blow-up in their faces.

And by the way, ang motorpool lot yuta sa Martinez. wala i-donate ug wala sad palita sa munisipyo, the LGU used it free of charge.

Who will win in the coming congressional election? From the point where I’m standing, it’s too close to call. It’s anybody’s ballgame.

Tabogon: Incumbent Mayor Iboy Gungob is with Tining’s camp. His challengers are Duterte & another candidate whose name I can’t recall.

Tabuelan: Incumbent Mayor Casi Gerona used to be with the camp of the Martinezes. Lately, they Gerona & Gerona-Zuezo of Tuburan (3rd district) shifted alliance with 1Cebu/Benhur. Bantay Radyo claimed that as one of the reasons why VG Greg Sanchez bolted 1Cebu. Have you seen Casi lately? NO because his not in Tabuelan right now. Let’s pray he gets well. It’s the Vice Mayor, son Rex Gerona, a former mayor who’s running the show. A 3-way fight is brewing in Tabuelan, Raul “Abay” Gerona, brother of Rex & also a former mayor is also running for mayor & so is another worthy opponent Titing Gallo. Both oppositions are supporting Tining.

Bantayan: Controlled by the Escarios (1Cebu/Benhur), the challenger is Susan Pacheco).

Madridejos: Incumbent mayor Sally Dela Fuente is with 1Cebu/Benhur. In May 2007, Tining did not have a strong political network in this town. Now, he has 2: Vice mayor Dodo Salazar (of SIT fame) & Letty Mancio for Vice mayor. Both are former mayors.

Sta Fe: Incumbent Mayor Jennifer Illustrisimo is with the Liberal/Martinez camp.

Daanbantayan: Controlled by the Loot’s, err Corro, err Loot, err Corro. Whatever. Benhur will win here.

Medellin: Of course Benhur will win here. It’s his hometown for God’s sake. Incumbent mayor Ricky Ramirez used to be an ally of the Martinez but lately he shifted to 1Cebu/Benhur. Instead of fielding a strong candidate against Ricky, the Martinez camp only have a token candidate whose name again I cannot recall. Why? My guess: 1) The Martinezes are banking on the political clout of the PLANTERS; 2) Jennifer (wife of Tining) is the niece of Ricky. So, is Mayor Ramirez a mole in 1Cebu party? Your guess is as good as mine.

Bogo: Home town & bailiwick of the Martinezes. If Tining will win in Bogo by a majority 13,000-14,000 votes, he will win the congressional seat, otherwise, it will be Benhur who will emerge victorious.

As for BORBON, the political affiliation of the mayor is out of the equation, being a part of the 5th district.

Junie will still be our mayor. The counsel will be split 7 to 3 (+/- 1) in favor of the Martinez camp. The 3 from the opposition most likely to barge into the “magic 10”: (in no particular order)

    • Atty Andales
    • Dr. Hortelano
    • Dr Lepatan

Again, I’ll remain neutral in the congressional race ever if I can vote, which is unlikely due to my tour of duty. But, rest assured, I’ll be praying of an orderly & peaceful election.
