FERMI Delayed again!!!!!!!!
NVIDIA Delays Fermi Availability Yet Again - Changes to the BIOS and cooler seen as possible reasons - Softpedia
kon ako papilion as a 3d graphics artist and multimedia designer... i preferred Quadro... geforce has a lot problems on other multimedia softwares when using OpenGL... i have gtx 260 and they said they equal to fx4800 but thats wrong. FX4800 can handle big texttures on 3d softwares and can view the texttures in viewport accurately. So for those gamers who preferred geforce stop comparing both geforce and quadro because you dont know the capability... your just a gamer. But some artists who preferred geforce, thats because theyre gamers too....
In terms of availability the quadro series seems rare an indication that the geforce or gaming market has a lot more share of the market than the highend quadro.
If there are already samples of the GTX480 I bet they are buggy runs hot and very crude. Better to wait for later revisions Or wait further cooler and more efficient versions.

No it's not. It's manufactured at 40nm node.
GF100's die size is between GT200 and GT200b aka GeForce GTX280/285.
Die size maybe almost the same but it packs almost twice the transistor count of GT200.
GF100/40nm/3.0 billion transistor.
GT200b/55nm/1.4 billion transistor.
GTX480 TRI-SLI in action. Wonder how much power it consumes.

You're right GTX260 and FX4800 are not equal but they are based on the same GPU.
GTX 260 being the mainstream equivalent. Both have 192 Shader Cores maufactured at 65nm node.
Main difference is that FX4800 has 1,536 MB GDDR3 of memory while GTX 260 only has 896MB GDDR3.
The very reason why FX4800 can handle big textures.
FX4800 also uses a different driver fully optimized for professional applications.
Quadro FX products are not rare...
