Considering you are on a 3-day trek. A liter of water is equal to a kilo of weight. Let's say for example you are carrying, at the least, 2.5 liters of water and that is already 2.5 kilos. Food/water to gear ratio should be 30/70. You brought 1.5 kilos of rice and a kilo of assorted food and you now have 5 kilos for your food & water.

If you can't carry this much weight for your sustenance on a long trip then you could not provide enough body heat to protect you at high altitude unless of course you have hired a porter to carry food for you.

Anyway you will experience light backpacking when these items are consumed slowly.

My normal base weight is 17 kilos. I could sustain myself by myself and I wouldn't mind the weight. I am old-school.

also ang mga gears na baligya karon kay weight-conscious naman sad cguro.. or naa sad mga alternatives na mo serve sa same purpose but mas gaan ang material..

so it's high time to upgrade nsad.. gasto is already a given - welcome to mountaineering.. i wouldn't mind shelling out extra on these since ako raman sad ang mka benefit..

@pinoyapache - You have a point sir; water alone consumes that much weight, mura og sobra jud siguro to 10 kilos diay akong load ui. In reality I’m not into weighing my load before I climb, which is a very bad practice. Paila jud kaayo ko sa pagka newbie aning mountaineering.

I never either. I don't mind the weight. I carry them all even my toilet.

mao nga importante nga ma research daan ang destination before mo larga. sa pangasugan way tubig sa taas pero maka less sa load kay di man pud tugnaw (mubo rang elevation) so di kinahanglan mag dag baga nga jacket. pag 2005 ka kuyog ko nilang pinoyapache sa malindang, bisan summer to way problema sa tubig kay most of the way mag river trek.
