By not metering, it won't give you distance. So the cam can't measure light. By this, one can't use Auto ISO (if you turn this on), one can't use the onboard Matrix, spot, center-weighted metering. You have to be the one to set ISO, shutter, and aperture via the aperture ring of the lens and not on your command dial. If you use a flash, you have to set it on Manual and not TTL.

You can still use it but your D90 has to be on the M setting.

I can use it on my D80, there's no reason why you can't. FULL MANUAL lang jud.
