    please post your setup

    ie [my home network]

    modem > wifi router (100mb) > 3 wired pc + 4 lappies

    on my wired PC
    LIQUIDCANYON
    i7 920 D0
    Asus Rampage 2 Extreme
    150gb WD Raptor
    3x1 TB
    2x500 gb

    LIQUIDKANDALF
    e6700
    Asus Commando
    640gb WD Green (OS)
    3x2TB
    2x1TB

    HTPC rig
    ion
    320gb
    Palit 9400gt

When i am transferring large amound of DATA (ie 100GB file transfers) on the normal 100MB nic it will take hours to finish (Max is about 10-11MB)

What i did to make the file transfer better
BTW both mobos have 2 NIC so i created a "personal" link for them

    Used a CAT6 cable

and Now transfer rates is faster (from 33MB-100MB)

Wifi Transfer is only about 1.5-5MB (54mb) depending on signal strength.

Buy a CAT6 cable (assuming both has PC has an extra NIC 1gigabit line) then plug it on both lines

set [192.168.2.1] and the other [192.168.2.2]

    then copy away

yep, if ang wifi router mo ang DHCP then you are free to copy from any PC.

As long as you have set your folder to be shared on the network.

    [manual setting of ip's]

    192.168.1.xxx (for each pc)
255.255.255.0 (should be the same for the subnet)
192.168.1.1 (i assumed this is the ip for the router)

    [how to "see" the folders]

type on the address bar on a open explorer

"\\LiquidKandalf" press enter (this assumes that the computer name is LiquidKandalf)
wait for a few seconds then the folders/files will show up in the explorer window
