I don't mean to be cynical, but I can't see the cycle of corrupt governance being broken any time soon. It'll take more than one president (if we ever get a good one) to sustain true reform of Philippine politics. Whatever Magsaysay started died with him on March 17, 1957. Whatever good was done was undone in just a few short months. The corrupt practices of the Quirino administration quickly returned when Garcia took office.
