Those airplanes and bouyancy effect were laws of physics that we live on everyday. Its already there we just did not know at the time of questioning this things. It is not that difficult to test because at any given moment, you can test it right away.

In the case of the Moon, You need to spend a ton of jet fuel, to test how is the environment out there.
