NINDOT UNTA ANI GWEN DARED TO LIST ACCOMPLISHMENTS...
CEBU, Philippines - Capitol spokesman Roy Jon Sepulveda hit back at Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña and challenged him to inform the Cebuanos of his accomplishments as mayor.
Sepulveda called a press conference yesterday in response to the announcement of Mayor Osmeña that he will put up a billboard at the public market in Barangay Cogon-Ramos with the pictures of former mayor Alvin Garcia and Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
Osmeña said the billboard will serve as a reminder of the “damage” the Garcias have done against the city, such as destroying the Ramos public market during the term of Alvin and the move of the provincial government to “destroy” the image of the South Road Properties.
The city, during Alvin’s term, reportedly spent P16 million to demolish the two-story Ramos public market that was rebuilt when Osmeña took over as mayor. Osmeña said he wants residents of Barangay Cogon-Ramos to know that the public market may be demolished yet again if they vote for Alvin.
He also alleged that the governor is “active” in destroying the image of the SRP that has ushered in money for the city.
“That is to remind them of the damage the Garcias have done. People have such a short memory. I will tell them to go ahead, vote for the Garcias and you will all be kicked out,” Osmeña said.
According to Sepulveda, he was surprised by the actions of Osmeña who is seeking the congressional post of Cebu City’s south district.
“Dili ba kaha nga nagkaratol na siya tungod kay lig-on kaayo ang iyang kontra nga si Atan Guardo?” Sepulveda countered.
Sepulveda said Osmeña should inform the people of Cebu City of his accomplishments as mayor and center his answers on the issue of peace and order, drainage, dilapidated roads and the increasing number of informal settlers.
According to Sepulveda, the Cebu City government under the administration of Osmeña failed to address these problems.
He stressed that while Cebu City has problems that Osmeña needs to prioritize, he is targeting the provincial government.
“Daghan kaayo nga problema karon nga nasinati sa tibuok dakbayan sa Sugbo, apan subo palandungon nga si Mayor Osmeña nagsige pagpanghilabot sa probinsya sa Sugbo,” Sepulveda said.
Sepulveda said that problem of the Osmeña administration is not the provincial government but those close to him.
Recently, his sister, Georgia Osmeña, who is running for mayor under Lakas-Kampi, said the city’s cash position of over P3.19 billion should not be a reason for celebration because the city allegedly remains unable to deliver basic services to the residents.
The mayor’s cousin, Sonny Osmeña, who also running for mayor, said the P3.19 billion cash balance cannot be true. He said it was surplus.
Yesterday, the mayor clarified that the cash balance he reported as the highest ever reached by the city government in history, is not considered surplus, but the “cash position” of the city as of the time it was reported. – Jose P. Sollano/BRP (FREEMAN NEWS)
