    Windows Me will do..

what's wrong with the XP ? i suggest you just stick with it. it pretty light for that laptop i think. it wil run just fine with 128mb of RAM. unless it's an illegal copy..

Modern linux distros demands some RAM (GNOME and KDE based distros) i'd say at least 2GB if you want comfort.. 1gb is just enough for breathing especially if you browse a lot...
    anyway,
If you want a "lighter" distro, such as Xubuntu.. i think windows XP is lot better than in terms of usability. it will save you a lot of headache... and if you try Puppy linux, yeah its light but i don't think you would be happy with it in the long run...

I would suggest Puppy Linux. Naa na siya word processor, spreadsheet, PDF reader, mp3 player etc, unya very small footprint ra, can fit on one CD ang download. Your problem will be how to install it on your laptop kung wala ka CD drive. Go into your laptop BIOS and see kung naa ba option to boot from USB or CD. Can you post your laptop specs?

labad ulo.. linux.. walay uniformity.. lain2x distro, lain2x settings, lain2x memorizon...
that's why i always keep my genuine windowsXP, if i got tired of non-stop linux configuring .

I don't understand your non-stop configuring with Linux. And why rant about non-uniformity when no one's pointing a gun at your head to force you to jump from one distro to another? Why not just stick to one popular distro?

off topic: basin gusto niya ma-master tanan distro bro? faetz!

on topic: ako ika-suggest sa TS since naa man ka sa alternative systems, try installing linux. ayaw tuo anang istorya nga 2gb kinghanlan, 30% to 40% ra man gani maximum magamit nako sa akong 1gb nga ram, unya perti daghana services/daemons nagdagan. 512mb payts na kau na sa gnome desktop.

everyday nako gigamit na ang linux, 2gb is way too much for ordinary linux users nga mag-browse2x ra, ambot unsaon kaha nila pag-consume ana. miski kung developer ka, unya imong application nga gi-develop ingon ana ka-memory hog then simple ra kaayo ang task, kulang pa ka ana sa praktis.

@burikoy, i'm sorry about what you feel. kapoyon pud ka kng wa na ka malingaw..
i stick with one distro, i think you know the reason and i'm using it.

@darkhero, good for you, 1gb.. ok ra man sad ko sa 1gb sa laptop nako...
pero man nindot jud to performance ang 2gb nako nga desktop.. basig over ra kaau ko mg open ug tabs
