bro i'd like to ask...is the christian god immune to his own commandment especially the 5th commandment? (though shalt not kill) if it's a sanctioned killing like syay nagsugo, or he himself did the act then it's excusable..or is it the same answer: that we shouldn't question his motives..or his judgement is beyond human understanding..if he abhors killing then why is it happening?

One ethical theory that Christianity adopts is the Divine Command Morality which basically says that our moral duties are determined by the commands of a holy and loving God. God don't command Himself, so He has no moral duties to fulfill and He is not subject to the same obligations and prohibitions that we are.

What you're saying bro is that God is cruel because of what He commanded Abraham to do, and what happened to the Eyptians and the people in the time of Noah. But you also said that you don't think those events really did happen. So what is your objection?

@ramini, nice analogy, God stated in his own 10 commandments of THOU SHALT NOT KILL ... but, as a prime example, why did he order Abraham to kill his own son If god exists, he truly is crazy and confused.

You're saying that what God did, testing Abraham's faith by commanding him to sacrifice his son, was morally wrong, right? Are you therefore also saying that God does not have morally sufficient reasons for doing what He did?

What do you mean by "center of all faith" and who made that claim in this thread? Are you saying that Christianity is somehow a disease?

how do you know that the Panchatantra, or perhaps some greek mystical fantasy book full of metaphors are true? how does the Bible specifically differ? the God in the Old Testament is perhaps the most mean-spirited character in all book mythology. thanks to him, he was smart enough to send the loving, caring, wisdom-filled Jesus Christ in the New Testament on earth totally opposite of him.

I'm not familiar with that book.

Fingolfin made the claim that certain stories in the Old Testament are just fairy tales, so I asked him what his reasons are for believing so. It seems that you're making the same claim. Why do you say so? How do you know that the stories in the Old Testament are just myths? Are you also saying that the New Testament accounts of Jesus are merely myths?

sent his son to be killed so that sins may be forgiven..if he's the authority on sins..nganong naa pman mamatay?..why is the sin of men only redeemable by the blood of the Son of God? (jesus christ) wla na bai laing paagi?..abi nko he doesn't want killing it says so in his commandments..then why send his son to die for his people?..im sure there were other ways to redeem the sins of his creations without ever having someone to die?..or bacn kai mu ressurect lang iya anak within 3 days?..

It seems bro that those questions are internal to the Christian faith; they're theological. I mean, I'm not sure if they argue for atheism. Correct me if I'm wrong.

People are capable of slitting a baby's throat if they are convinced they are following GOD's orders.

Of course, anyone can claim that God is speaking to them and do criminal acts. But that doesn't mean God actually commanded him to commit those crimes. That person is either deranged or simply malevolent.

technically, there is a huge difference. ask yourself this:

- is Santa Claus being venerated?
- do people worship Santa Claus and regard him as their SAVIOR?
- are people willing to give their life for Santa?
- do people actually go to Church to worship Santa?

it's kinda stupid to ask if Santa has his own freewill to give gifts or not. you're adding insult to injury by implying that people do actually believe this, and that they are a lot more stupid than you think for believing Santa has the freewill. are you guys really that stupid? i didn't think so.

you don't see the "almighty GOD" testing their faiths by having Abraham scare the crap out of his son by telling the kid he's about to die as toying. you don't see anything wrong with a kid having to endure such brutal psychological trauma as a result of an "almighty being" playing around the innocent little kid's head. because oh by the way, it was GOD's will and we never question it.

Bro, how do you know that that was God's motive for issuing that command to Abraham? How do you know that He doesn't have good reasons for giving that command to him?
