Default A Big Mistake on Earth's Magnetic Field

found this video on youtube, Michio Kaku explaining about the Earth's Magnetic Field.
    Scary stuff.

What Michio Kaku is talking about is the 11 year solar sunspot cycle. As one cycle gets closer to its 11 year end, there will be quite a lot of solar mass ejections from these sunspots. The solar system is big. However, if the mass ejection is directed towards us then it can be dangerous. This has already been observed and studied and analyzed by solar physicists/astronomers a long time and and up to now. The idea is to be able to detect a solar mass ejection that is directed to us the moment it happens. It will take some time for the solar mass to reach Earth. Most systems that will be affected will be satellites. With the predication at hand, these satellites can be put on sleep mode. Hopefully, there will be no serious damages. The truth is, it can happen anytime. In fact solar mass ejections happen all the time but fortunately they are not directed to us.

If the super solar ejection really is directed to us and if we can detect it right away, then if they penetrate our atmosphere, we can turn all of our electronic devices off and wait it out. This will really require global cooperation especially on the side of the Earth the will get hit.

if dili daun ma detect bai, paksit tanan electronic devices? what if ma paksit ang mga military equipments sa mga nasod, delikado kaau.. how about humans? naa ni effects sa atoa physically?

yeah, this is true. This is a puzzle that geophysicists are trying to solve. As far as I know, it magnetic reversals have happened more than once before and it could happen again.

aw, paksit gyud.... haha! pero these events can be detected. There are numerous solar observatories in the world build for this purpose. Dili tingali madetect kung dayon kung magcoffee break tanan scientists sa mga observatories sa tibuok kalibutan. haha!

as for humans, I'm not an expert in biology or biophysics but I don't really think so. Things like these have happened a lot of times a long time ago already. It is only now that it becomes a threat to us because of our technology.

    No. Totally different.

Currently our magnetosphere is weakening plus the Magnetic North is moving towards Russa (Magnetic Pole Shift). And we're about to enter the next solar peak cycle.... in 2012-2013... c",)
