18-55 or any wide para group shot
any telephoto para intimate moments nga dili allowed ang photog to go near the couple. cheapo recommendation rani if kaya sa imo budget to go deeper aw kadtong mahalon nga klase sa lente![]()
f/1.8 normal lens (35mm for APS -C sized sensor, 50mm for a film slr) is useful for events like weddings. A fast lens like the f/1.8 will allow you good ambient light photographs, dili ma ruin ang feel sa light around your subject kay wala man flash.
Shoot a lot of close-ups for the couple and a lot of (near subject) wide angle shots with them interacting with the family and friends. Abtik lang pud nga di ka makaali or makasalipud sa ubang photographers during the event specially kung dili ikaw ang main photographer. However, don't stop yourself to take a lot of photographs while the event is going on kay mas nindot na sya tan-awon than those puro nalang gaatubang sa camera. Of course, lots of storage for photos (memory card kung digital, lots of film rolls kung film) and a backup battery aron di ka mabitin. Don't forget the kids (including ang mga lola and lolo), nice na sila iapil pud nimo, shoot at their level or height kay mas nindot tan-awon. A wedding is like a family reunion, diha nimo makita ang mga bata ug mga tigulang. Enjoy making photographs.![]()
sakto si boss hayden - 18-55 kit lens. But if you really want quality all around lens. Go with 24-70 on a full frame body (that is kng ma afford nmo)
If not, go with a 17-50 f/2.8 3rd party lens on a crop camera. budget lng ug around 20k ani nga lens.
As for setting, go with manual and don't forget the rule of thirds. importante kaau ni sa weddings
Good luck!
as mentioned on the previous posts, a lens with a wide and zoom capability is essential because weddings usually have group pictures as well as portraits. an 18-55mm is sufficient and cost effective lens for this purpose. 18mm is wide enough to accommodate the whole barangay in group shots and the 55mm provides decent portraits shots of the couple's intimate moments.
some wedding photographers would also like to bring a telephoto lens (70-300, 70-200....etc) to snap some candid moments during the event. this is good if you have a second body or are super-fast at changing lenses otherwise, you might end up missing some important moments during the event. Personally, I recommend bringing a 18-200mm lens to eliminate the need of changing lenses or bringing a 2nd body.
Unless the wedding(ceremony and reception) is held outdoors and during daytime, an EXTERNAL FLASH is also a very essential tool to bring. As personal experience has taught me, it's hard to rely on the on-camera flash. It adds additional strain to your camera battery and direct flash usually results in well-lighted but flat pictures.
Some Photographers bring a fast lens(f/2.8 to f/1.8 ) to eliminate the need for flashes in low-light situations. But most fast lenses are expensive, so only consider this if money is not a problem. There's a 50mm 1. 8 lens that's very affordable, but as stated above, only consider this if you bring a second body or are superfast at changing lenses. The reason behind this is that on a DX camera 50mm would translate to around 70mm - pretty hard to get those wide group shots. and if you're a nikon user, the AF 50mm will not autofocus on your body.
To sum it up, paragraphs 1 and 3 are essential while paragraphs 2 and 4 are optional.
Hope this helps....have fun and good luck. and try not to get too much in the way of the official photographers. hehehehe...
I think ang TS is going to be an official photographer on this event. Don't forget to relax and unload any pressure from shooting weddings, have fun instead![]()

be mindful of the small things nga maka panindot sa imng shot or composition....
enjoy and may the force be with you.... hehehe

If you can, borrow a second body so you won't need to change lenses that often.
