^^ i apply the decal after coating the whole model with future and let it dry. I bought my Future sa Metro Ayala Supermarket.
do you thin your future before airbrushing?
i'll try to look for that Future. although Tarmac was kind enough to offer me some. it's always nice to have fellow hobbyists who helps develop our skills!
Kung mag flat coat nako sa future diha pa ko mag thin using denatured alcohol. murag 3/4 future 1/4 alcohol man ako mixture. Kung coat before decal kay undiluted nga future ako itira.
ok bro. i'll try it. thanks for your advice. any ongoing builds for you right now?
I also bought Future in Ayala Supermarket. P400+ in 2005 or 2006. But one bottle will last forever, which is why galante kaayo ko nag offer ni moyti.
Let me know lang moyti when you want to get your Future.
Any of you guys tried making your own decals? I'm experimenting now with my latest project, an Airfix 1:144 Pan Am Boeing 314 Clipper flying boat. Would appreciate tips.![]()
@Moyti
NP. BTW dili jud kalas ang future. For one 1/48 jet halos dili mairog ang botelya. Also, after human nimo ug tira sa future mas advisable kung imo clean thoroughly imong A/B before storing it. No builds for me right now kay gi tapol ko. I'm planning to scratchbuild the cockpit ug ang burner cans with photoetch parts. Nag collect pa ko ug daghan referrence ug nag mugna pako ug sakto nga procedure with minimum fuss.
@ Tarmac
Plano pud ko buhat ug decal. I found a blank wet transfer decal paper sa National bookstore. I think naa to inkjet ug laser version. Let us know kung gi unsa nimo ug results sa imong experiment.
Yes, I also bought Scopa paper from National. I hope to get all the decals printed within the week. I'm using Paintshop Pro (or Photoshop) to design the decals, Microsoft Word to lay out, and an ordinary HP inkjet to print them out.
As for the spray coating, National didn't have Scopa's recommended spray. But the IPMS-BA DIY decal expert tells me the best spray to use is Bosny clear flat (no. 191), a lacquer spray in a rattle can available at Ace Hardware. Pylox or RJ also works well daw, basta clear flat--going straight to gloss might make the decals bleed. Spray within a minute of printing. After the clear flat coat dries, you can spray Tamiya or Gunze clear (gloss) as a final coat. The advantage with Bosny is the decal supposedly doesn't stretch if pulled (as you would when applying it).
Anyway, this is my first time with DIY decals, so wish me luck. I'll let you all know how it turns out.![]()
nice to learn from you guys! actually i'm trying to get my skill to the next level after being just contented with building OOB ever since I began building kits. The AB I bought really was the catalyst to this! Now I'm learning a lot!
@td209: sometimes other commitments like work get in the the way, mau na usahay tapolan sad ko ug build. but when i look at other's builds, ma-inspire sad ko nga mag-model. hehehe. musuroy sad ko ayala puhon. i'm trying to start a 1:48 F-16 but decided to set it aside lang sa. i want to re-sit my old builds and improve them (retouch sa weathering and paintjob) before i store them again sa display cabinet.
@tarmac: i saw your posts na sa IPMS-BA! i'll dropby your place soon to get your offer! hehehe. i too would want to DIY some decals. i'm glad naay SCOPA sa National dire. so, good luck sa imong DIY decal project boss!
