yes, each have their own personal preferences. And I really do think breakthrough genres were Jap-based or Jap-influenced. so yeah, they play a big part in the gaming industry. history says so.

take for example metal gear. western influence but very noticeably, jap. final fantasy is overrated but who cares. its their trademark, concept designs are out of the box. sure they introduce alot of new stuff every now and then.

Capcom and SNK are good at 2D and they really sucked bigtime at 3D. no offense to Street Fighter 3 and KOF MI fans but compared to Tekken and Soul Calibur from Namco.... I'd say they really need to improve their 3D fighting games(graphic wise).

For me yes. Give and take ra man gyud siguro na. You learn from other peoples mistake. Follow there strong points and improve the weak points. It may be sa karon leading games might be western games worldwide pero most japanese developers only targets local markets. Japanese have a very unique culture. You might be sick with the anime stuff but sa ila kay mao na ang nindot. Even website designs sa mga japs tends to have anime style. Even ila mga lalaki did2 naay anime magbitay sa cellphone. lol ila mga ads didto contains anime stuff. halos kada lingi nako did2 naa hehe

right now in PC games siguro mostly western pero in handhelds kay murag mas daghan gihapon ko ganahan nga japanese games kay sa western. like my psp right now contains Monster Hunter, which is i think wla gihapoy naka lupig lol in terms of kinadugayan nga game nga ni stay sa ako psp. Tekken 6. Patapon 2. And there are still more japanese games i would like to play but haven't because of the language barrier.
