A reliable source say VISA is more accepted worldwide than Mastercard or has more benefits than the later if used abroad.

What i'm trying to find out is what bank in the philippines offers the best conversion rates (i.e. when you purchase in $, the bank that offers the least converted amount in Php that will be reflected in your SOA/bill), and on top of this the least conversion fee (most charge between 1% - 3% of your purchase amount). I heard that some international banks do not charge this fee at all.

Aside from this which do you think is best to do:

    1. Buy $s and pay in cash when purchasing abroad, or
    2. Use a credit card and just rely on bank's conversion rates & other charges for convenience & security.

This is also what i'm trying to find out: In what way could I save and lessen my foreign exchange expenses?

What do you think? 1 or 2?

ive been to singapore last august and i used my citibank mastercard in almost all my transactions there. there was no conversion fee when i checked my bill. the exchange rate imposed by citbank was i think reasonable.

besides, u cant rely on using cash on all ur purchases abroad as some immigration imposes a limit on the amount u can bring in to their country, i.e. for singapore 10,000 singapore dollars

so make sure a credit card is handy when travelling abroad
