Post lang ko ani... Nice subject to ponder about...
"spent much of the day venturing through the threads ( talk about a busy day eh? haha ) and came across a lot of "PURE" arguments. Some argued that there was no such thing as pure anymore, some disagreed, and some were somewhere in between.
I'd like to share a quick story for our enjoyment.
A couple of friends and I went to see and purchase some birds from this breeder some time ago. We were in the process of banding birds when another entourage showed up.
My buddy was holding one of the roosters and when it was being banded, one of the visiting gentlemen commented, "...that is a nice rooster, what bloodline is he?" He was told it was a "PURE" Mclean Hatch. The man giggled and told the breeder that THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS "PURE" and suggested that he ( breeder ) trace back the lineage of the fowl and find out what they really were. The old man replied by saying something like " .. when I got them, I was told they were Mclean Hatch birds and I kept them that way ever since. So to me they're PURE." The man mockingly giggled and insisted that the old man take his advice.
Then the fun began.
The old man asked the man what was his ethnicity. The man replied, "PURE" Filipino. The old man giggled and said, "..son I suggest you go back home and trace your lineage because like this Mclean Hatch, you are not "PURE." The man kind of took offense and replied, "...I'm as Pinoy as Pinoy come." The old man then asked, ".. why do you look Chinese?"
I started laughing at this point and couldn't stop for quite some time. The man's reaction was priceless.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, whether a bloodline of gamefowl is pure or not, what matters is if they fit your liking and make you happy. Only you know what you do to your fowl these days and those who came before us are the only ones who truly know what they did to theirs.
We were getting ready to leave, the old man shared some more of his wisdom with us. He said, " You see my son there? He ain't really my son, that there boy is "PURE" Mexican but happens to be albino. Them birds out there in the yard won't be where they're at if it wasn't for his help. I don't care what bloodline he is, I appreciate his work ethic and humility. Now that boy there is PURE!"
Some folks pass on not ever having anyone else respect them this way.
just my two cents .."
