Where to start in this hobby..

pero wa bya ko gadget pa boss.. i mean, only have the lens that came with the kit 18-55 mm IS lens.. hehe.. mauwaw ta.. basin adto lang ko boss pero observe2 lang.. hehe.. kaw lang ako pangitaon if dayon ko.. hehe

read all you can regarding dslrs... find something that would best fit your personality... either canon or nikon, its all really up to you... pentax is good but mostly recommended is either canon or nikon because of the after sales service and the availability of accesories. kitlens is okay, but when you're hooked up beware.. hehehehehe you'll keep wanting more....not to worry there's always the dependable buy and sale section where you can find good buys for lens as well as other accesories..

i would suggest that she should decide first if that's what she really wants and not just because most people now owns a dslr or a cam... venturing into this hobby takes time, money, passion.. its not that easy. she might end up disappointed buying an expensive equipment just because most people are into photography now...

if she has decided then the acquiring process begins. if she has friends that have dslrs then let her borrow first to get that feeling and to check what fits, im sure she ahs friends who own one.

then she need to check reviews on cams preferably nikon and canon units(recommended) so she can see as to what features of the cam that will best suit her photographic needs.

when decided then.. she can then buy one.

and while doing all that let her login or become a member of ISTORYA.NET or other forums as what sir lemreyes said and read what other people has to say.. i learned it this way as well, it might be a help for her too. be interactive..

in these forums, you'll get a lot and meet some friends, to start with you can hang out with IPC members..
this will definitely guide you in your new found or if not long sought after hobby.

and most important: BE FRIENDS WITH MASTER KARLO... HE'S THE JEDI!

well,its not because pipol 2day are into dslrs.. its because she wants to capture picture perfect moments and stuffs.... she may nt become pro in this field but at least she can make the best out of every shot.i believe she got d potential coz she can even get the most out of our digicam,she has the enthusiasm.she always observe the works of other photographers to have an idea what to do next.and as for your advice about the jedi... we might approach him as soon as we have a better cam.... all ur advice in this thread are greatly appreciated... tnx guys!

well glad to hear that bro... its actually not about the cam... let her join even if its a fone cam no problem with that... as you said she got the enthusiasm and the passion, then she got the elements. heck she might be better than most of us... im a newbie too...

@TS: Bro, photography is a great hobby. But its one of the most expensive.
If you really want to delve deeper into the world of digital photography, a PnS will do a great start but if you do have sufficient funds, better start with the primary dslr.

It doesn't matter if you have a PnS or a dslr, what you need is the willingness and the perseverance to learn and the passion to take photos.

Why dont you join IPC and learn from the pro's and masters.

My advice is to use whatever equipment you have, and to master its limitation.
