@endless eight: Too much anthropomorphism (dammit, that is such a hard word >_>), actually. xD Not just Hetalia, but i've been a fan of Troubled Windows and Habanero-tan back in the days hahaha. xD

Also, i think i thought of PAGASA-chan before i got into Hetalia. ^^" There was this one time where we got stuck at school because of a sudden typhoon, and PAGASA announced it at the moment na naa na ang typhoon. So everyone was liek "dammit, PAGASA, you are sooo late > : / "

Haha.. Awww~ PMA-chan. That sounds so cute hahaha. xD I can imagine her na mag always think sa past ahaha~ xD

@Hercules bisaya: I can hear the theme song of that show ringing in my head.. e____e
"Hercules.. blah blah blah story. Hercules.. blah blah blah and glory.."
ugh nalimot na ko sa lyrics orz. But the tune, dammit! xDDD

    eeeeehhhh... Lingaw bya to. e__e
Lingaaaw au paminawn ang bisaya dialogues nila (mag lisod lang ko sabot usahay, prolly bec of the dubbing quality). But man, Hercules' sidekick na half-boy + half-horse kay funny au paminawn.. xDDD

I wonder how many local anime enthusiasts here collect original DVDs/VCDs of anime...

Talking about local animations, I could only recall two original Filipino animations, "Fly Aswang" and another one which I forgot the title, but I recall the story was about "datus". I haven't seen any of these two Filipino animations because, to be honest, I was not interested. I have seen the previews and I was impressed, but the focus on aswangs and datus was a turn off for me.

I mean, does it have to immediately be a story about aswangs and datus for it to be called original Filipino animation? If they want it to be successful, they should at least consider the interest of their market (in other words: 'get the attention'). Why not start on a story about Filipino highschool life, which an average Filipino teenager could immediately relate to. Then after that, gradually introduce deep Filipino culture on the next titles.

And while they're at it, they could also incorporate common types of anime characters with characters from Filipino history/culture.

now this sounds like a better and a more feasible idea... the problem with people is that when they get an idea, they jump off to the "big thing". they fail to recognize that it's the small steps that makes the big difference in whatever dream they pursue.

starting small is always a very good and practical start. first you have to feed your idea to the public in order to sell it. maybe you can start off with promotional materials, start with comic strips in the local news, magazines or whatever medium...to introduce your characters and the plot to the public. eventually, that will grow on people and that will have a more positive response. based on that, maybe you can step up the plate. if im not mistaken, this is where some of the famous cartoons started. like peanuts and garfield. i dont know how many people have seen the cartoons but almost everybody knows (and loves) the characters and the stuffed toys.

Let's go back to the topic.

Is there really a strong demand among locals who wish to see their anime subtitles and/or dubbed in Cebuano?

It would be interesting and/or funny to hear, but since we understand English (and Filipino) naman, too much hassle na xa if i-translate pa in bisaya. Although i've thought of asking my friends to dub something in bisaya unta (Azumanga Daioh) just for the lulz. Haha.. You know, for fun lang. Pero yeah, srsly, masabtan na ang English/tagalog gud e__e. Pero that's really interesting to do (those movies na gi bisaya gani sa youtube, for example).
