how will you know if a motherboard or a processor or any hardware thats overclockable has been previously overclocked at some time. is there a way? for people who are buying 2nd hand/used products this info would be very helpful.

I don't think you'll be able to find out. Why do you need to know anyway? An overclocked cpu ( but is well maintained and is given the appropriate cooler ) is not much worse than a non-overclocked cpu ( that is, gi-pasagdan lang sa owner, grabe nga abog on a case that is not well ventilated. )

exactly.. besides, people who overclock are most of the time enthusiasts or on a tight bubget and whichever is the case they are people who tend to be more careful and mas maalaga sa ila rigs.. love their rigs more than their girlfriend/s? hahaha

if the mobo is fairly modern, tanawa ang nga BIOS setting profiles...if one of those naay naka-oc then for sure na overclock ang mobo...
on the processor side, medyo subjective kaayo kai dili 100% sure ang manifestation...but generally kanang dugay na gi overclock nga processor, ang gold side niya medyo dark na...
kung gi-lapped ang procie heatspreader-side, then for sure gi-oc gyud na...why lapped it in the first place

as for oc profiles matangtang man sad daun na kay usually if enthusiast nagamit ana nga mobo which is mag kuri kuri and oc oc ipang delete gyud before ibaligya hehehe ang mahimo lang gyud ana is inspectionon og tarong ang mobo look for oxidized pins or non solid caps nga medyo smelly or ni bloat kay mao na kasagaran physical evidence nga gi overclock to the max and nag increase gyud og voltage
