hey guys. i just want to share what i learned and my thoughts.
I've been studying the behavior of large structures subjected to external forces and found interesting similarities to this topic:
1. structures that have mass and stiffness (force applied divide its deflection) have natural frequencies and this can be calculated given the properties of materials, geometry, ect..
2. In an event that an external force is applied to this structure, it will vibrate. If the external force's frequency is near the natural frequency of the structure, it will create a resonance and this is where the structure will vibrate the most.
What I mean by structure are buildings (big or small) and an example of an external force with a frequency are earthquakes or moving machines.
Correct me if I am wrong, but is the string theory trying to determine the natural frequency at the atomic level? If this is the case then i can think of a few applications of this theory: it will mean then that each person has a specific natural frequency and therefore we can broadcast a signal at that specific frequency and this one person can pick it up? Or we can actually kill a person by broadcasting signals that will cause the vibration to fracture the atoms.

It's much more complicated than that. Don't mix up what you have learned about the macroworld. hehehe! What you are talking about is wave mechanics, it applies to the macroworld and the mesoscopic world (halfway from micro and macro). The atomic and subatomic world, however, is governed by quantum mechanics. In a way, it is still a sort of wave formulation of matter. About natural frequency and all about the atomic resonance including optical(photons) and acoustic(phonon) have been successfully been explained by quantum mechanics. String theory is going way beyond that. It is trying to combine General relativity (explains the macroworld very well) and Quantum Theory (small small). hehehe
As for your other questions, well, its not related to physics. It is exactly what hizuka007 said. hehehe
