It is always good to be true; I think this is the only way to prove that what I'm posting here is factual. I just hope that uchihacirxe and kamsky will not take this an egotistical challenge but an opportunity to take lil glance on the other side.


If they are stable and having excellent incomes on their own surface, then the tools they have is greater and essential than anybody else can provide. Mag-unsa man na ang tools kung gutom gihapon ang pamilya.

Just fyi I am probably the most open minded software engineer. ive worked with several language. each has pros and cons. I respect everyone what they have. There is even an IT professional who's doing well and do not know how to program but they only know the technology, configurations, and vendor product. If you are an ITIL certified, you'll get more, no good programming required.

If i'm going to create an application and I have a team of powerbuilder programmer only, are you going to use visual studio/.net? If yes, you're project are doomed to fail.

yeah, mao na trait sa good programmer, use the available resources at hand.. finding a solution to the problem is not about having the best tools at hand, but using the available tools at hand to solve the problem in an efficient manner as possible..

but of course, if you can afford better tools, aww, weigh the pros and cons, expenses and return of investment..

can it scale to large multiple access? or is it mostly limited to small-to-medium and personal databases? or am I getting this right?? PB is mostly for front end, and you can have really hard-core multi-tiered database backend..


msaccess has native jet engine support for small-to-medium and personal databases.. i think ana pud tingale ang PB..

I would imagine yes. Sybase is a proponent of multi-tier architecture starting way back 1990ish. One of the few companies who release middlewares and app servers. I remember there was Jaguar App server. You can have non-visual objects in PB, non just frontend.


PB is not the same level as msaccess. I hope you were joking. Banks use PB a lot.

Agree...but I’m not talking it as a whole... its features by features of DataWindow.Net which he concludes that it is a PB’s advantage (which is not belongs to PB natively in the first place), please do not exaggerate; in a way, most idiot people do...

I just assume and bite that this DataWindow.Net is PB’s, a once upon a time fairy tale, that outperforms every tool from its functionalities... then you gotta proved it! Not just by words!

hehe.. i have very little knowledge of PB to even begin criticizing it..
but based on the post earlier by uchihacirxe, i'm sure it can scale to large corporations..

msaccess, if used like PB in that manner you mention can also scale to large corporations.. but i'm just playing with theories here.. i have not seen it in practice.. but msaccess strictly speaking is just a front-end though which can utilize multi-tiered database backend because msaccess rides on ADO for that..

in your case though, PB is more than just a front-end.. so its a matter of defining what "PB" covers.. does it really have its own components or does it borrow from others claiming it all belongs to PB.. i wouldn't know..

oh, i beg to disagree.. you can properly delineate what a tool can or cannot do in this manner.. what it originally owns.. i'm not trying to exaggerate what MS Access can do..

but if PB can do that in that manner, well, ms access can do that also..

that's a broad coverage to answer. maybe you can give me what's the limitation of ms access, and one by one we'll map if powerbuilder can do it or not.
