merry xmas..i need your opinions on this..i have a lan cable..straight thru ..sa una ok cya pero karon dli na..pag test nako ..wala jud suga sa tester..how do we know w/c part of the lan cable nga naputol..pwerti raba taasa...ako na gi ilisan ang rj45 jacks..still same result..saun man pag determine w/c part naay problema?tnx!!fo replies..

aw straight through man diay. ecompute nimo ang gasto sa magpalit og bagong cable kumpara sa palit og lan cable tester... kung makabarato sa new lan cable, aw palita nalang. perog kung masmakabarato kung magpalit og lan cable tester, aw mao nay palita.

kung pah-it jud kaayo part, kanang wa jud kay budget sa anang nahisgot sa taas, pwede man nimo na manualun og test bai....

steps:

1. start ka sa tumuy sa jack, then estretch ang cable (mga isa ka dupa or 1 meter). so bale ang naa sa imong right hand kay ang jack, og ang naa sa imong left hand kay ang tumuy sa 1 meter nga cable.

2. sa tumuy sa imong left hand nga cable, hiwaa para mogawas ang mga wires. Be careful nga dili masamad ang wires ha. then start ka sa usa ka color, example ORANGE. itusuk diha sa orange ang dagum. then ang dagum nga nakatusok kay econnect sa tester.... then sa right hand nimo kay econnect ang tester sa jack dd2 sa color ORANGE. ... so kung maglikog ang tester, meaning ok ang iyang connection walay physical nga putol.... so next color napud ka... and so on....... kung wala gihapon gani, then ipalhin imong right hand sa left hand nimo nga cable, then stretch napud nimo ang cable para ang imong left hand magunit napud sa another edgte sa 1 meter, then repeat the process above.

diha jud nimo makita ang putol part....... ang nakapangit lang kay ang imong cable kay daghag electrical tape nga gitapak sa mga hiniwaan nimo.. ^_^

3. adto ka sa pikas tumoy, gamit tester kun naa ba continuity.
4. do it same with the other pair
5. i record ang paris nga naay continuity
6. i-recrimp ang using pairs mga naay continuity, u already know the pinnings, 1236

Based sa inyong mga tubag ang di gihapon maka solve sa iyang question.

Ang tubag unta is every meter mag panit pa siya sa cable, then mag tester, using the suggestion.

E1============= XM1 =========== XM2 ===========E2

E1 - End 1
XM - 1 meter
E2 - End 2

Every meter imong panitan and each strand panitan gamay para maka tester ka from E1 Strand 1~8 e tester nimo XM1 Strand 1~8, then pair E1 Strand1 and XM1 Strand1. So kong walay connection ang E1 to XM1 so somewhere naay putol diha, continue to next meter if ok pa ang connection.

kay kung imo man gud etester ang TAAS kaayo nga cable basi man gud dili mag-abot ang korente sa tester tungud sa kataas...

it's just not practical ng every meter ka mag-test, time consuming, it could damage the cable, allows entry of induction, not in the book... my idea is based on experience w/o the lan tester...

btw, what's the purpose of looking the break or cut? sumpayon as in i-twist lang unya tape-an, or suldahon? after some time, it will corrode...

well, to answer the ts' question correctly to locate the exact position of the cut, use cable tester with reflectometer...
