Here's mine:
More than a year ago, my dad purchased 3 laptops in the US. 1 was a Toshiba Satellite and 2 HP Pavilions (DV 2710us and DV2815nr).
After a couple of months use, mobo died on the 1st HP. Had it replaced at HP (SM) w/ no difficulties thanx to the int'l warranty... About 2 months ago, same problem occured. Mobo died. Only this time they want us to pay around 20k for the mobo replacement coz the warranty has expired.
Now for the 2nd HP Pavilion - after 3 months of use, a vertical line appeared on the LCD. Took it HP(SM), they replaced it. Then a month ago, it started havin these hardware problems. No audio device detected and from time to time the DVD drive disappears... I've search forums in HP and non-HP websites for troubleshooting techniques. I even did factory restore twice already and even upgraded it from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate but I'm still gettin the same problems.
On their website's forums, it turns out there are also a lot of HP owners from all over the world experiencing the same problems w/ their laptops.
here's a link to one of their forum topics:
HP Quicktouch on screen display has stopped working and no audio output device is detected. - Notebook PC Sound and Audio - HP Support Forum
Toshiba by the way is still in good working condition. No problems at all. And it was even purchased months earlier than the two HP's.
The brand HP has been condemned in the household. Never will we spend a single cent on anything that bares it's name. We've told friends and relatives of this misfortune. So they will not make the same mistake on investing in such sh*tty, defective devices...
