there's a difference between belief and facts.. one does not have to force facts, they are facts.. whether you accept them or not, they still remain as facts.. but beliefs on the other hand will still remain a belief, and that's why people force them on other's throats..
The fact that we are arguing here in almost the same issue means that we are pushing what we believe in, in each other's throats.
using science to promote religion just so it could discredit science, that's stupid.. its like you're using a ladder to show that you can climb a tree, but in the end you really intend to burn the ladder, so how can you climb the tree now?
Do you mean this? "What's funny about science discrediting science? Isn't that the main purpose of science, to know the truth? If the truth dispels the previous assumption, wouldn't that be better for mankind?" I think it's clear that I didn't mention about religion here. My point here is to encourage you to be open to the possibility that certain truths or realities or facts (if you define them as accurate) today may not be what they are in the future.
Anyway, I don't think that the vast majority of the church is discrediting science. In fact, it tries to create a bridge between science and Bible, which the connection unbelievers could not embrace.
science is always changing.. supplanting the old theories with new ones..
but its not aiming to discredit its own purpose.. its purpose is to just find out the realities of this material universe..
How do you define reality? Isn't it the truth? Science may prove something is there or isn't there, but the bottom line is it's the truth--as of now.
why would science discredit its own self.. if that were the case, science would have ceased questioning already..
then i'm sorry to say this but your faith is weak.. if your faith lies on what is written literally, and that what is written literally is being questioned, does it mean your faith is also being questioned? I thought faith was made of stronger essence..
in this sense, Jesus was so right.. its kinda ironic and paradoxical too.. he says they have little faith but wants them to have faith the size of a mustard seed..
He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
I guess you got me wrong. You can never measure my faith. My point is that believers should also be able to understand the Bible well enough by looking into science. Science is not only for atheists or skeptics. They are also for believers, and they are a lot of materials out there that can support the claims of the Bible. I would definitely encourage them to read them because, as I've said, it's so easy for people like you to mock what we believe in and our faith.
what facts? i'm not trying to push down your throat any fact at all.. i just state the facts, whether you accept them or not, its up to you.. those are the facts..
i've nothing against people trying to create a bridge between science and Bible.. but when Bible begins to dictate what is true or not for science, then that's dangerous.. science is not out to disprove the Bible.. but in the event that science uncovers facts based on observations and analysis, it has a side-effect of disproving some claims in the Bible..
i don't claim to measure your faith.. its people who are putting a measure on their faith.. if your faith is beyond that, that's good and well.. i sincerely believe that faith is made of stronger material than mere words in a book.. sometimes, people feel mocked by their beliefs when other people are just trying to state facts.. look at history, when copernicus said that the earth is actually not the center of our solar system, the religious people felt mocked by it.. so he didn't say much for fear of being lashed at..
but when Bible begins to dictate what is true or not for science, then that's dangerous..
--- how? site an instance be!
--- most dictators are athiest... indeed they are dangerous... so, what now?
but in the event that science uncovers facts based on observations and analysis, it has a side-effect of disproving some claims in the Bible..
--- like what? evolution... pft!
ancient arguments naman cguro kaau ni oi , hahha. dili jud mag human ba....
everyone has their own reality.
