much better if imo kuhaon ang 45nm type. if you're into gaming di kaau mo matter ang imo processor pilion aning naa diri sa imo choices as long as di nimo ilisdan imong GPU so i would recommend you the dual core 8400 than the quad. pero if gusto ka future proof sakto sila mas maau kani imo paliton nya ayha nalang ka sa i5 or i7 after sometime kay ang kanang karaan na quadcore kay behind naman na siya although pas2x pero ang iyang hardware obsolete na compared sa mga new na duol2x ra ug price that even gives you more advantages and features.

(1066mhz vs 1333mhz)
the Xeons are better binned processors...slightly lower vcore to reach the stock speed and all have Virtualization technology(w/c u will not be using anyway in your desktop)...but for all intent & purposes, preha ra sya sa iyang Core2 equivalent...Q6600 same as X3220, the E8400 same as the E3110...

the smaller the lithography, mas better ang iyang TDP...dili kaayo init...

as long as your motherboard can support the processor bus speed...mao nai importante...BUT if mag OC ka this is where it matters a lot...for example...imong motherboard can support FSB 1333MHz...and you get Q8400...at stock it is 2.66GHz...that is 333MHz(freq) x 8(Bus/Core ratio)...if you want to mild OC it to 3.2GHz...then that will be 400 x 8 = 3.2GHz...
so your bus speed becomes 400 x 4(kai quad -pumped man ning Intel bus speed) = 1600MHz...so kung pitipsugin lang imong mobo...maka-ihi na at 1600MHz...unstable & kung magkalisod pa the spirit of the undertaker will take it away...

    hope this helps...

for games that take advantage of 4 cores the q8400 will do better. but for games that only use 1 or 2 cores, the higher clockspeed of the e8400 will make it the better performer.

Thank you vry much bro, helpful gyud kaau imohang suggestion, nakahatag ning daghan knowledge sa akoa regarding the processor. I decided to buy C2Q Q8400, and nakapalit nako gahapon. and sa tanan na nag suggest diri salamat sad kaau.

actually, bisag few pa ang programs nga maka optimize for quad core, if mag multi task ka, sure jud nga magamit nimo tanan cores, lets say when u open limewire, then browsing, then photoshop, and sounds,, then optimized dayun tanan cores nimo. no need to wait for a certain programs to optimize it, becoz naturally windows will optimize it by default, ;p ang core nga idle will be loaded if u open a third program

true...IF YOU HAVE AN APPLICATION THAT WOULD RUN ON WINDOWS XP ONLY...if that's the case better use...VirtualBox(the best Virtualization apps so far that i tried)...

Hehehehe...I'd use that ANYDAY over XP Mode. You get no argument from me with that software, boss. Best software I ever tried for doing practice installation of operating systems...way better than XP Mode/Virtual PC or VM Player.

    On topic:

@TS: So have you decided na on the processor? I'm wondering on what you decided because PCX and Gaisano don't seem to be selling the c2d E8xxx series. Most of what I have seen being sold in stores now are PDC Exxxx series, the celeron 3xxx series, and the C2d e7xxx series. I wanted to buy a C2d E8xxx series myself.
