Genuine African Black Soap is brownish in color and has an earthy smell. The appearance of the soap may be an issue to some, but let me honestly tell you that it is VERY WORTH IT. With this I do not only mean worth trying because it can give you results that would make you swear by it and wanna have it in your bathroom forever!
It can be drying to some so use of moisturizer is highly recommended. Stinging upon use of the African Black Soap is normal so there is nothing to worry about.
African Black Soap contains unrefined shea butter. If you are allergic to shea butter, latex products or nuts you may wish to avoid this product.
Storing your African Black Soap:
Pure traditional African black soap is a soft milled soap and has very high natural glycerin content. As a result, it readily absorbs moisture from the air. It must be stored in a dry location or in a sealed plastic bag or it will become soft as it absorbs moisture. Black soap exposed to the air will have a thin white colored film. This film is not mold it is caused by absorption of water from the air. This can be avoided by keeping the soap in a dry location away from moisture until ready for use.
TIP for SEVERE CASE OF ACNE:
(You may take a picture of your acne scars before and after doing this routine to monitor the changes that it could bring you. Please take note that effects vary from person to person so please be very careful in using this wonder soap. Even the most organic/natural skin care can cause allergy to some.)
Usage:
1. Wash your face with Pureglow African Black Soap. Leave on for 10-20 seconds.
2. Dry your face with a clean washcloth.
3. Put emu oil on your fingertips and gently tap the oil on the affected area. Take note that a little goes a long way. You do not need to put on too much emu oil to guarantee efficacy. Just a dab is okay.
4. Wash your face with Pureglow African Black Soap after five hours.

I got my soap about 2 weeks ago, but I wanted to give some time to use it before I wrote a review. I am amazed with this soap. I have never felt cleaner in my life! LOL...My face has finally cleared up..I feel so blessed to have found this product. It is GREAT for the face, but also great for your body....I also have it in my bathroom as hand soap, because it gets your hands so clean. I have all of my kids and my hubby using the soap, and it has finally cleared up my children's eczema. It is crumbly at first, but once you squish it together, it stays together. It also does not smell bad. It just smells like soap. Natural soap. It is a little drying, which is what it is suppose to do, but I can't say that my face feels "tight" after washing, just a little bit. It feels super smooth after washing with the soap. I do recommend a moisturizer after, but that is with any soap, because we all know that moisturizing is a huge part of keeping those wrinkles at bay..hehe..I would recommend this soap to anyone and everyone. The soap has truly been a miracle for me. I am only 30, and I would get the occasional break out here and there, but then I got sick and had to have a hysterectomy. Since getting sick, I have been broken out all over my face. Non stop break outs. After the surgery, I thought my face would clear up, but it has been 2 months, and to no avail. I have used every product I could think of, the ones that are suppose to clear up black heads, and acne...but nothing has worked, not until I started using this soap. Now I am blemish free...Don't hesitate to buy this...Just buy it, you will be amazed!

Let me tell you somethin': I used to have perfect skin- PERFECT when I was in high school, into my early 20's.. Then when I became pregnant with my daughter 3 1/2 years ago my complexion went out the window. My chin had constant acne (the speckley under the skin kind) and the area around my nostrals was always red and dry. I've tried EVERYTHING. I basically gave up. I bought this for my boyfriend (he has eczema) i decided to cut a small piece and try it out myself. This soap is HUGE def. worth the money. Ive used it for only 2 days but so far im loving it. Im trying it out on my face and back because i break out sometimes. The smell is not the best but it does leave my skin feeling real smooth. I hope he likes the way it for works too!

I've been using this soap for a week now and it is truly a miracle worker. It looks just like the picture. It has the same smell of a real african supermarket. It makes your skin soooo soft. It dries your skin as well, but that is what it's suppose to do. OILY SKIN LADIES get this now! This will become your new bestfriend. It's perfect for the face. I just got it today, used it for my hands, and made it really soft!!! It lathered really well=) Like real soap! When you get it, it looks hard, but when I cut it to get a piece, it kinda crumbled and was really soft and feels kinda like play-doh=) It smells funny right out the package, but after washing your hands it really does smell like soap! I like it so far, I'll get back in a month or so=)

That's exactly what it looks like. And no, there is NO smell to it. If you try really hard, you might think there is. lol. Earthy? Yeah, sure! But if anything, you can't smell any sort of.. well, smell. I got my African Black Soap in the mail yesterday and used it last night in the shower. My skin is SO SMOOTH & SOFT!! I broke off a small piece and sort of squished it in my hands to make it firm enough to stay together. I liked being able to make it the size I wanted! If I make it the size of a golf ball it's easy to use on my face and stays together enough for me to use on my body. Wonderful product! I will never go back to whatever it was that I used before this!

I've only used this soap about three times, but already I can see that the skin on my face looks brighter. I have some red spots left over from blemishes, and I noticed that they look lighter. The soap lathers really well, and 1 pound looks like it's going to last me a long time. And yes, it's soft, so it's the real thing. The only two drawbacks that I have come across so far is that it seriously STINGS my cheeks. I researched African Black Soap, and it appears that the stinging should go away after a few uses. Also, it's really drying on my already touchy/dry skin. I find that applying a heavy moisturizer after using it fixes this problem. I really like this soap

I am in my early fifties and wasn't sure if I should use on my face. It is wonderful for my body but it treats my skin without drying. I love how it clears any blemish up on my face but it leaves my face so soft. I have been using this for a couple months now.

Wow, why was I not informed about the qualities of using 100% Unrefined African Black Soap. This stuff is a miracle. My skin has always been sensitive to products ever since I hit puberty(I am now 25). So the older I have gotten I have basically just went off of using any common name brand products and have turned to using organic/ natural products that container very very little ingredients. My skin in the first week of use looks amazing and has dried out the pimples that were on my face instantly. I have heard that some people believe it is too drying on their face which I will take into consideration during the winter time. But this will be PERFECT for the summer. My face gets so oily with warmer weather and this will definitely help. I have also heard of the ABS stinging slightly, but I have not had this problem yet and have been using it twice a day. Now the plastic bag is not the best but I will just purchase something to store it in so that it will not dry out over the months since I do plan on using this for the rest of my life
Finally, when using this product, you have to break off pieces off of the actual product and then I just roll that piece into a ball to make it easier to handle when in the shower. Also just a piece of advice, REAL ABS is NOT black, does not come in liquid form, and should be firm yet soft.
