    FACTS ON PHILIPPINE AQUATIC LIFE

It's been a while since my last FOFAL post but here's another interesting fact about one of the oddest
local goby species called the "Crazy Fish"

I have first seen this fish in an online petstore based in the U.S. and I got curious to see the review
of those who are keeping it. Turns out that the people who are selling it are importing it straight from
the Philippines and other Asian countries. This fish is called Crazy mainly because it sometimes swims
upside down when feeding and when dwelling on the water surface. The fish belongs to the Eleotridae
    family or the Sleeper gobies.

The ACE trekkers, myself included, has encountered and collected specimens of this species in the river
mouth of "Bagatayam". Those who kept them were amazed with the fish' unique behavior and charateristics.

This fish is a testament to the Philippines rich biodiversity that is continously destroyed. Hopefully,
ACE can come up with a plan to lend a hand in the preservation of our local species.

    COMMON NAME:
Crazy Fish, Crocodile Fish, Duckbill sleeper and Upside down Goby

    DIET:
Carnivorous, eats mainly livefoods from fish, crustaceans to insects, may accept pellets and dry fish foods.

    NOTE:
This fish and other related species are considered brackish inhabitants but are flexible in terms of the water
salinity. Some keepers have had no problems with keeping them in pure fresh water but if you want the fish
to show its true colors, then you can add a little salt to the water.

    BREEDING:
    Unknown.
