We all have teachers...yes even Jesus had teachers and his parents were his first teachers but when he became matured, did he still need his parents and those teachers?
Sabi ni Valiant13, may guru si Jesus Christ, who is John the Baptist, (pandagdag sa knowledge mo) muka kasing di mo alam since ang binabanggit mo eh parents at teachers haha And when he became matured? Of course he still needed a guru, dun nga nagsstart ang path to enlightenment.. tsk tsk..

I am a teacher by profession and when you say teaching the TRUTH, I cannot teach that to someone else. I can teach you how to ride a bike but it is you who will experience the ride of your life. YOU may read all the manuals and all the books but that is not yet THE TRUTH.

My reading and studying does not mean I have arrived at THE TRUTH for TRUTH IS EVOLVING LIKE THE UNIVERSE. yet, this is my duty as an eternal student of the universe. Yes, I don't need any teacher ultimately speaking because my teacher is MY EXPERIENCE AND THIS EXPERIENCE IS ROOTED IN LIVING ONE'S LIFE TO THE FULLEST!

Discussion is encouraged in this thread. Hopefully it will stay that way. No need need to get in over our heads. Just a preemption guys. Regnauld and other TS members are welcome in this thread. The more the many-er di ba? Hehehehe.

We exchange ideas here, we may have disagreements but let us stay friends and continue our search for TRUTH. PEACE!

I see. Yes...John The Baptist too. But did Jesus depend on his enlightenment?

Who was his guru when he achieved full maturity? Saan mo mababasa sa bibliya kapatid? After all, when you are fully awake, it is YOU who are the greatest teacher and not even Jesus or Buddha.

I did not say ONLY EXPERIENCE, that's why in our quest for TRUTH, there are three things that are needed: Firsts, Study and reflection, second...Silence and Meditation and the last is Service to Humanity!

Yes I would admit I am not yet enlightened like you do and I salute the GOD WITHIN YOU AS I SALUTE MINE!

Humility is needed too when you say that you cannot teach THE TRUTH to someone else...you can only explain but its up to the individual to experience THE TRUTH for himself or else that is not spirituality.

    PACEM IN TERRIS!

exactly. Jiddu Krishnamurti had someone at the early stages of his life taught him the way to enlightenment. We all need a guru for guidance and mercy. They are here to help us in our evolution. In the records of esoteric history, individuals that have attained illumination have gurus.

the way i see it, j. krishnamurti was more of a philosopher than boddhisattva.

how? through silence and meditation. who taught you that enlightenment can be reach through silence and meditation?

we need a guru to give us authentic procedures and mantras. True initiation comes only under the proper guidance of an authentic master.

What if there was no guru to teach and guide you? Can you still learn and become enlightened?

    YES.

The greatest teacher is not actually the person. The greatest teacher is LIFE ITSELF. Life will teach us lessons and if we don't learn these lessons, they will be presented and repeated back again and again until we learn them. Even a stone can be a teacher.

Procedures and mantras are external things and unnecessary for one's evolution. True Enlightenmnent is AWAKENING from the ILLUSION of FEAR!

LIFE taught me about SILENCE and MEDITATION is part of my being!

    Peace!

The statement is purely hypothetical and so is the answer. Behind every Illumined soul is a merciful guru. This been proven.

Let us not dwell in the play of words. Every illumined soul had a guru.

procedures and mantras are necessary, it enhances our meditation and widens our inner experiences. thus it will help us awakened from our sleep.

chakras and other energy centers respond to the different vibrations of the mantras.

no. Theosophy told you that SILENCE and MEDITATION is part of your being and that realization came to you because a guru like HPB or anyone from TS shared this experience to us(humanity). Without the Gurus you wouldnt learn how to meditate.

Theosophy confirmed to me that even before I attended the Theosophical Society. HPB was not a guru and HPB is not our guru. Each one of us is a guru sharing our experiences and studying esoteric wisdom from the ageless wisdom of the masters and I don't follow any guru.

LIFE itself is my guru...yes and not a person! Why do you have to insist that we should need a guru to teach us to be enlightened when in fact life itself is a guru?

What do you mean hypothetical? Is it impossible to be enlightened if we don't have a guru? I beg to disagree my friend.

I believe Homo_quaeritans is asking for an example of somebody who has attained enlightenment without a personal guru.

Yes life can be a guru since it teaches us valuable lessons but what we are discussing here is enlightenment. With Life, we can learn through karma but enlightenment is a whole different level. With life, we can evolve but attain enlightenment? Hmmm.
