    Not bright enough: http://farm4.static.flickr.com...04979442.jpg

the iphone is just a hype. there are many phones out there, specially from Samsung, HTC, and Nokia that can do so much better for so much less. Even mid-range and non-touchscreen phones of these manufacturers crush the iphone when it comes to specs.

that's why i never got one, despite having multiple chances of getting one. i probably will, only if they can up their ante and catch up with what is being offered by other brands.

proof? here's a link to a comparison between the iphone 3GS and the nokia 5800 (I'm not using this phone para walay bias). take note that the iphone will cost you almost 40k while the 5800 is currently less than 15k.

its easy to post pros and cons of phones because every product has one. question is, among the disadvantages you listed, do you know or are familiar with them? will it fit your needs?

make an iphone lover demo you the the potential and show its true worth.

reviews are just guides. if people buy only the products with excellent/VG reviews, then that will end up breaking our piggy banks

go to philmug and applei websites and similar siltes to appreciate this fone

kalma lang bro. we're just airing out our opinion for those who are not quite sure yet as to whether or not they really want an iphone. an apple fanboy will never claim the products' weaknesses, just as a sonyericsson fanboy would say that nothing beats sonyericsson.

imho, the iphone is a cool gadget, but claiming that it is better than the rest is absurd. i got to use one, so you can't pin me on not having any experience. being the techy in the family, i often get to use my aunt's iphone coz i'm the one loading the songs, the apps, and even jailbreaking it. but not once did i want to have it as mine. why? it didn't fit me, and it didn't fit my needs. and to further explain, most of the cons in the iphone have been solved by other manufacturers even in their mid-range hansets.

the app store - one of the iphone's biggest strength, is also one of its downfalls - the appstore is heavily, and vigorously guarded by apple - shutting out any app that threatens to overtake iphone's native applications. the opera browser would be one good example. it's been shut out by apple since it already has safari on the iphone. another all is called "podcaster". Apple told Sokirynsky the app was too similar to iTunes and wasn't welcome on its virtual shelves."Although my app does allow you to listen to podcasts like iTunes, it also allows you to download them directly to device, and that is something Apple does not offer," Sokirynsky points out. Same goes for Google apps: Google Voice and Google Latitude - for the sole reason that they are better than what the iphone software offers.

so, since there is a loooooooooooooooooong list of pros and cons, let's stick to the basics to be fair to the iphone:

    pros
    hardware:
    capacitive touchscreen (multitouch support)
    scratch-resistant surface
a variety of hardware like portable stereos (thanks to the ipod)

    software:
a plethora of applications on the app store -- i sooo envy this ... hahai
    fast, smooth and dynamic UI

and for the cons, lemme cut down the original post as to only the basics so that we can really see what the iphone lacks(stuff that other high-end phones have that the iphone doesn't, these phones namely: Samsung OmniaHD, Nokia N900, SonyEricsson SATIO, HTC HD2, just to name the high-end lineup)

    SOFTWARE:

No way of restricting network access by apps (those who have very high internet bills can surely relate to this)

    No Micro-SD slot
    Not addressable as USB storage
