Was the military involved? Who knows, maybe CCTV footage will offer clues as soldiers tend to develop habits which manifest unconsciously. I don't really understand why cops should carry M16s anyway, I mean they are OTT for an urban situation and the rounds have too much penetration meaning that in a shootout nobody in the vicinity would be safe from ricochets or stray bullets. If cops switched to the much more practical MP5 (9mm/40 caliber) within city limits then anybody (uniform or not) carrying a military weapon will immediately look suspicious.
If I'm not mistaken the M-16 is the standard government issued assault rifle. Also i've never actually seen our cops with MP5s maybe M-4s for SWAT, but not MP5s. The gate guards at Camp Sotero Cabahug and those wearing urban camo uniforms that do foot patrol in thw city are always seen with old school M-16A1 assault rifles.

About the hesit though...is'nt it a bit weird to be seeing an M-14 on the robber disguised as a policeman....I mean...I've never actually seen cops carrying around M-14 rifles.

This might just be a cover up. Just a small picture to complement the big picture which is happening elsewhere at the same time.

Anyway, this is the same modus operandi used in the Fooda Mango robbery.
