great! see, there are lot of great apps for linux and they are free! just try and test them, many apps are not polished but they are really usable.. just look around and you will find what you need..
i even installed this cinelerra, a non-linear video editor, just testing. i don't know how to use it or will even ever use it but it looks and feels professional-grade ... and you can have it for free..
"inkscape" by the way for desktop publishing, it can't replace coreldraw but it's free, maybe it's a good deal.. don't you think ? hehe
open-source is a lifesaver...![]()
i just installed kde in ubuntu. making it essentially a kubuntu but you get away from redoing your original installation. all your installed apps will just run on KDE. it's nice
konqueror file browser is much better than nautilus for me.... the KDE desktop itself is very snappy
try it. in ubuntu go to synaptic packager manager and install "kubuntu-desktop"
it's just less than 200mb download over your ubuntu system
GNOME is retained and you can select KDE or GNOME as default desktop..
