Default I cant play 1080p movies, input needed

I need some help. Im not sure if this is hardware or software.

I have a problem playing 1080p movies that are 4gigs in size or higher. Im using a VLC player. The movie will freeze or sometimes pixelates or the sound stutters.

    My PC specs are :
    E2180 3.00ghz
    HD 4850 video card
    P35 motherboard.
32inch LCD tv via HDMI cable.

Im using Vista ultimate 64 bit.

    Is this vista64bit related problem?
    Driver?
    VLC?
Or do I need to upgrade?

    TIA.

have you tried playing the file using other media players? try Media Player Classic Home Cinema, Windows Vista 64 and 32 bit support - MPC Home Cinema.

in VLC, select Tools then Preferences. on the lower left corner of the Preferences page, select Show Settings >> All. Click Video on the bottom part of the left panel. Try enabling Drop late frames and Skip frames (version 1.0.2 of VLC).

your hardware is ok. unsa hard disk gamit nimo bro?

insect111, Seagate barracuda harddisk bro, 250g.

Drop late frames is enabled by default.

Windows mediaplayer can play the mkv files but low ang quality and dili pud nako ma enable ang 5.1 sound.

I tried the 12gig movie at my friends PC and plays ok with his VLC. Hes using 9600gt and windows 7.

nag install ka codecs or codec packs sa imo pc bro? try ffdshow para ma-enable nimo ang 5.1 sound sa windows media player, it's just a small download and gamay ra ni compared sa k-lite nga codec pack,

anyway, paki-post kuno screenshot sa imo task manager bro while nag-play sa movie using VLC. try lang pud ang media player classic home cinema bro. if na-try na nimo ni tanan then mao gihapon ang result, sulti lang diri.
