It's a video of a show organized by GMA in Cebu years ago at Ayala Center.

StarStruck promoter Ritchie D. Nolasco would easily and blindly call it "world class".
World Class? The wages are world class i gotta say. I'm afraid Cebu would follow their standards on what they call "World Class". They don't understand people pay good money to get awed by talented people. I can't even believe variety shows here still sell. They're cheap and they've been doing it like since world war II. Kung kinsay gwapa, gwapo bahala na ug yabag, kanta jud.. Worse i feel sorry for people who are amused by this. Thank God there's youtube. I think its the only "talent scout" who's got the integrity to separate brilliance over pseudo-amateurs.

Let's face it - some people out there don't even know what "world class" really means. Instead, they use those words to sell themselves, or to impress people, or to deceive people to look high up to them.

When I hear someone claiming to be globally competitive, I don't believe the claim. Instead, I demand proof of achievement.

Over at Barangay Sambag 1, there was this group of amateur dancers (average age 22) who do their craft passionately. Whenever they do a show, they introduce themselves with the words "world class dancers". What a blatant lie. Those dancers did not achieve anything on the global level. It's deception, it's delusions and its pride in the worst forms.

As for variety shows, I am so sick of them. You get to see these artificial looking show hosts, those weird looking dancers performing, those speakers who overact too much (I remember a lady speaker who can't even say Cebu in a normal manner - she always exagerrates saying the name), etc. Oh yeah, the two super fat networks continue to organize such shows here in Cebu, selling bad entertainment to local audiences.

How much do these local entertainers earn performing in network-organized variety shows? Reportedly P269/day from GMA and P380/day from ABS-CBN. The P111 difference is suspicious. Perhaps the low wage GMA pays to Cebuano talents reflects how low the network looks at them.

Oh yes, another quote from StarStruck Cebu promoter Ritchie D. Nolasco: "Cebu itself has world-class entertainers, it's time we all take them seriously."

That lady does not even know the meaning of "world class". More like "dirt cheap class" to me! Oh yeah, there is more to education than entertainment.

When dealing with the TV networks, people can defy them and neautralize the network wars by uniting and turning the TV off.

i think whats even worse, is the issue is not only about work ethics & quality. It has become a "cultural thang". Sure their claims are ridiculously misleading, they cud even sell a piece of rock and say its world class talent for all i care. By the way, they call that marketing and the sad news is my mom is buying it.
