Not really. The executives of these big TV networks will have their way with the talent search candidates before paying them anything. They will play and abuse them just for the sake of higher ratings and more advertising money. By the time the talent wannabe gets paid, a lot of punishment had been committed on him/her. Oh yeah, don't forget those iron-clad contracts. The network will own the careers of the most successful candidates.

The "easy money" is a big misconception. So big, some young people drop out of school for it (and showbiz glitter).

    StarStruck audition tips

Are you one of the many who are aspiring to become the next 'StarStruck' ultimate winner? Then get some tips from the people who know best--the people who had gone through the 'StarStruck' process as well! Compiled by Jason John S. Lim. Interviews by the iGMA Web Team. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.

Kailangan ‘yun. Confidence, and pakikisama. Be nice to everyone. And dasal! So dasal."

Jackie Rice: "Kumain muna sila bago sila pumila! Huwag silang mahihiya, kasi once in a lifetime rin 'yung pagsali, so ibigay na nila 'yung best nila para mapili sila."

Kris Bernal: "Ang isang secret diyan, believe in yourself na kaya mong gawin. Ako, I don't dance, I don't sing. At saka siyempre, prayers—‘wag mawawala yun."

And magpakatotoo lang kayo, just be yourself. Siyempre batch five na 'to, so medyo alam na nila ang mga paikot-ikot. So dapat, kung humarap sila sa kung saan man sila mago-audition, just be yourself lang."

(Laughs.) Masasabi ko lang, just be yourself.

Tsaka lagi kayong mag-pray and stay humble. Trust in yourself. Wag mayabang, wag magpapaapi, and be friendly.

Be yourself. Hindi 'yung ano, 'yung nagpapanggap kayong ibang tao. Kasi pangit 'yung ganoon e. Siyempre kapag nagpanggap kayo na ibang tao kayo, off or on cam, ganoon 'yung magiging lifestyle niyo. Hindi magandang tignan. Basta kung totoong tao kayo, tapos 'yung ugali niyo talagang nilalabas niyo, mas magugustuhan kayo ng tao."

Jade Lopez: "Be yourself, magpakatotoo ka. Nasa showbiz pala kami. Enjoy lang."

Jana Roxas: "Kung talagang kaya niyo, dapat ibigay [niyo] 'yung best—kasi ganoon 'yung ginawa namin. Tsaka ipakita [niyo] 'yung pinaka-talent [niyo]."

Vivo Ouano: "Just be yourself. ‘Yun lang."

Fellow readers, you have the independence and choices to make. Don't let these networks fool or dictate you.

If you don't like what's showing, or if you have something better to do, just turn the TV off.

"Now is a good time for young students to quit school, practice their talents, make themselves look pretty and join the audition!!!"

DROP OUT OF SCHOOL?? this is ridiculous. This line only means how SUPERFICIAL starstruck is. EDUCATION is WAAAAAAAYYYYY more important than fame.

    Plain idiotic.

That must be the mentality of these careless people - always looking to talent searches for "salvation". They even have a passionate speaker/defender here who declared "Now is a good time for young students to quit school, practice their talents, make themselves look pretty and join the audition!!!"

    Dumb and pathetic.

    Dream...Believe...Survive...StarSUCK!

Will GMA ever let a Cebuano become the so-called "ultimate survivor"? I doubt it. The results and text voting are sure to be rigged.

Wow. What a way to promote StarStruck!

    Dream...Believe...Survive...Get dumb!
    Dream...Believe...Survive...Drop out!

I wonder what the executives of GMA in Manila and Cebu have to say about this thread.
it is a matter of personal perspective.... it doesnt mean a person is dumb just for saying what is right for him, the things that is important for us might not be for others.. think about it.... some actors in Hollywood have not graduated in highschools, chose to quit school or even drop outs. they didnt think education is a priority since they are bad at it..... but acting; they found something they can do that they are good at... so its the persons perspective, so dont judge the person.... basin pagnadunggan ka ato maskuyaw pa diay siya or portfolio nimo.... just to clarify, this statement is really striking to me, but come to think of it, that is the main sacrifice you have to make to become an artista, in PBB teen edition, many quit school just to join, SCQ as well, not only school, some has to end there careers to enter to the BAHAY ni kuya or Survive in PALAU. mainly to become an artista you have to quit studying 1st then just continue it when you have time, thats WHEN you have the time..... JUST THINK... he is just stating the obvious....
