Global warming or not, the point is, the typhoon passed almost directly over Metro Manila, and hence the devastating effects. Ergo, if tomorrow, a typhoon passed directly over Cebu (which it sometimes does, even 500 years ago), the effects will be the same, regardless of global warming or not.

I believe in the phenomenon called Global Warming, but I hate it when people use the issue in the wrong way, promoting fear and panic instead of understanding. If people just knew how to look at maps and weather satellite pictures, there's no reason to be caught totally unprepared for this...yesterday I already posted about this when it was STILL a tropical depression (in the Weather Updates thread), and I was hoping it wouldn't turn into a storm, and by that time, METOCPH already drew the estimated path of the storm (and the prediction line passed directly over Metro Manila), and yet people still weren't prepared. Why? People believe in faith more, than they believe in science.

unfortunate comment! unfair to us all hit by the flood! sir why we aren't prepared? because not all has the opportunity and technology as you have .. otherwise the government could have issued a warning to all to evacuate to higher buildings or grounds .. otherwise people should not have gone to work. why blame the faith of these victims as culprit of their predicaments? I would rather be happy if you, bro, with your means begin gathering help for our lowly kababayans .. that would be noble, instead of judgmental post .. mind you, I too am a victim of baha, but it did not stop me from giving the evacuees from squatter areas some dry clothes and food yesterday .. and I did it not only for human compassion, but with charity and faith in God who wanted me to help on that very moment.. it is good that they have faith, at least they have something to cling to, while waiting for help from other persons .. bro, they are waiting for your outreach, and they don't give a damn to your judgments!
