Thread: Q6600 or Q8200?

  1. #21

@ TS: OK na nga temps oi...4hrs man kaha na nag dagan Prime95, stable...anyway dili btaw na pang Prime95 ra imong pc bisag mag games pa ka dili na maka 100% utilization sa imong procie...but if you have the chance, ilisi na imong V8 & tanawa airflow sa imong casing...

mao pd..murag huot ra pd kaau akong casing napalit..ang silverstone PS02B-W..d mataod ang fan pra sa top..ky dle masud..hehe..ang exhaust fan nlang akong gipa bugwak og maau sa v8..hehe

ngita lng kog ka trade aning v8 nko..
    thanks kaau sa mga reply..

nice overclock, bai. no plans on increasing vCORE or FSB further? dako pa kaayo ka headroom bai since naka low man diay to imong fan speed.

if wala na, let's proceed. you can run your memory at its rated speed by using 5:8 divider since you're now under the 333 strap, ang 1066 available na at the said ratio pero if you want to run it synchronously (1 : 1), layo-layo pa ka sa memory speed which is 533 MHz for 1066.

DDR2-1000 is only good if you're running it at CAS4, at CAS5 tabla rana DDR2-800 CAS4. yours maybe a little slower since timings are a little loose. there's a difference in performance (at least on synthetic benchmarks) when you set the memory at 1066 5-5-5-15 and moreso if you tighten the northbridge latency as well (Common Performance Level a.k.a tRD) so please take a memset screenshot.

if you're up to the challenge, make 533 MHz your front-side bus goal. this will put your FSB in sync with your memory which makes tRD a little easier to tame than using extreme ratio. 533 x 9 is highly unlikely for this chip but 3.2 GHz (533 x 6) is plausible. if you can reach these speeds, then we'll continue tightening memory and mch latency.

EDIT: (do not forget to enable advanced roundoff checking in Prime95)

    - if you want to stick with your overclock right now, run a In-Place Large FFTs. this will ensure that the processor and MCH are stable. i'm sure it'll pass because you haven't done any tRD setting, yet. if this test fails; the components to blame are usually just the CPU and Northbridge so the voltage that you need to optimize to are either of the following: vCORE, MCH CORE, CPU VTT, GTL Reference Voltage.

    - if it passes, proceed to a custom (blend) test, adjust the memory to use in MB. match it with the available memory on the system.

a little example of the benefits on tightening MCH latency (this is on my E5200 unit):

    Spoiler!

the lower the MCH latency, the harder it is to stabilize with In-Place Large FFTs moreso with Blend. It will also require insane voltages when you start going down the 5 mark.

    @poldopunk

grabehag na O'C sa dual core oi..soooo insane..grabeha ana imong memz master oi..BEYOND GODLIKE NA!!!ako sa suwayan bro ha..thanks jd kaau,..kng dle mada mo stick nlang ko aning na OC nko..hehe thanks jd kaau..hands down to you master..

mao jd..thanks to them..ni dako gamay akong utok..hehe
ni suway ko og 533 but fail..lisod e stable master poldo..
    hasta pd ang memory..

anyway i choose Q6600 jd..i like this proc..lisod e OC ang Q8200 sa default na voltage..Q6600 is smooth as butter kng e OC..here's an update to my OC'ing lessons..

this is the lowest possible voltages..@stock..

    ok ra ni master poldopunk??
