CEBU CITY -- Deputy House Speaker Pablo Garcia (Cebu, 2nd district) and two other legislators will ask the Supreme Court (SC) Thursday to declare the planned automated election illegal and unconstitutional. Election commissioners, however, see no violations committed in the revelation of the SC ruling on the nullification of the P7.2-billion poll automation contract.

Garcia and Representatives Hermilando Mandanas (Batangas, 2nd district) and Antonio Cerilles (Zamboanga, 2nd district), representing Visayas, Luzon and Mindanao, said Comelec violated laws and the Constitution in its poll automation program.

I hope mo push through na gyud ni ang poll automation so we can get rid of these sick Garcias once and for all! To hell with Unggoy, Buwaya and Kabayo (kamo lang decide which garcia is which haha)

i have nothing against the garcias...it just makes feel real suspicious. if the goal of automation is cleaner elections, aren't we suppose to defend it at all cost than oppose it? just doesn't make sense.

The RA 6396 states that the automated election system (AES) should be used in at least “two highly-urbanized cities and two provinces each in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.”

The petition also argues that the system to be used must have been “successfully used” in prior elections.

wala man gyud tingali fraud-proof nga system BUT i think we have to trust what modern technology can do to at least make the elections efficient, least fraudulent and less violent. In an automated system, mawala na ang mga usual nga pamaagi sa panikas such as: flying voters ug ballot box snatching and hostaging.

The public keys will be issued to the election personel, but Smartmatic gets to keep the private keys."
