but not to the people who saw him flesh and blood in Manila.

to these people, what happened to Paco was a manifestation that justice can be manipulated by people in power influenced by the media.

if paco was sent to spain, then IT IS NOT HIS FAULT. it is the same law and government that decided his fate.

see how the public cried for blood...

Applicable ra unta ni ang law if the convict is a real Spaniard. Kanang dili Filipino citizen... and here in the Philippines on a visitor visa (tourist, business, etc.). If dual citizen ang criminal, what is applicable to Filipino citizens should also be applicable to them. Nganong pangitaan naman sad ug lusot oi... Ambot unsay reason nganong naa ni siya nga law. Naa gyud cguro politicians nangawat ug ganahan motago sa Spain.

I read in other forums that Miriam Santiago was approached by close family members of the Larranaga/Osmena because Miriam after losing a son (suicide victim) would take pity on the case of Paco. Basin tinuod ni basin sa di but dako sad bitaw puruhan nga tinuod kay na feel man gud ni Miriam unsa diay kasakit mawad-an ug anak nga laki labi na ug pinangga kaayo. Siguro nalooy sad siya sa kaso ni Paco ug sugot nalang siya mo sponsor sa maong treaty though morally questionable because it would be construed as favoring the rich and powerful.

Maayo unta ug si Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ang sunod mahimong biktima. Tan-awon nato kong ibalik ba ang life sentence imprisonment. Makapanungo man sad ta aning balita-a.

Nagbinulok or gibayran ug minillion?

Half-Spaniard Half-Filipino man si Paco. Basin half sa sentence diri, half sa sentence sa Espana!

I know some of the people who testified on Paco's behalf saying he was with them in Manila. Some are very close family friends, people I grew up with. To this day they insist that Paco was indeed with them at a party in Manila and I have absolutely no reason to believe they would lie in open court, or even to me privately.

Unfortunately, the crime for which they were charged was supposedly a conspiracy. The fault of one is the fault of all. Conversely, if one is shown to be not guilty, then none of the accused are guilty. Had Paco been exonerated, it would've meant Jusman Aznar and copmany would also have to be let go. Public opinion would never have stood for that.

LytSlpr is probably right about their conviction being a case of the tail wagging the dog.

I've heard other stories about who the mastermind was, who the real perpetrators were, what the real motives were and why the ones who ended up behind bars were targeted. They seem to tie up loose ends very nicely. But then again, these are just stories and would never stand up in court.

Personally, I have no interest in the case. I understand the ones who were jailed were no angels and deserved to be put away (although not necessarily for life) for sins committed in the past.
