Note: Im an atheist (I dont pray!) This is just an observation (of my past experiences as a theist and my present encounters with theists, etc.)

As I see it, its mostly a motivational thing (self-motivational or directed towards others). It seems to also allow someone to reflect on something really intently (reflect on his/her self, the situation at hand, etc.)

I would say freely-composed prayers would be more productive than the rosary, which I think is just too 'ritualistic'...Repeating the same worshiping prayers over and over again (in hopes to somehow induce a stronger invocation for 'divine intervention' maybe? to resolve the thought-of issues at hand...Yes, it could be motivational, but too restricting in my opinion...)

What I find sad is that people tend to rely in it too much though. <-- Theists would most probably disagree on this one.

It makes a good motivational tool for the believer...

    Just my two cents...
When you pray the rosary bro you are also reflecting on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

right.... others find it hard to pray without having something to hold... some people find it hard to pray directly... i dont know how to call it, maybe medium...
so as for me, i would rather pray heartily...perfunctory prayers does not contain your emotions and how you appreciate God so much.. GOd hears us, we dont have to keep repeating what to say....

The image of a rosary can give a feeling of assurance to the one who believes in it- both the driver and his passengers. Drives away their anxiety from the possibility of having an accident. It calms the hands and the mind that steers the vehicle. Although prayer does not change God's mind nor stop an accident from happening, it does have a way of changing the person who believes in his prayer.

Kini gud nakagraduate tag Catechism during my Flores de Mayo days, kabawo gamay unsaon pag-pray sa Rosary wholeheartedly. According to my teacher, if you pray the Rosary, pray it like you're offering flowers to the Virgin Mary. Each Hail Mary represents one flower. It's a devotion, I think.

Lord! Help me nga muasenso..." apan wa man japon musasenso bi?

Of course naay effect ang prayer, pero dili murag magical incantation..abracadbra sis bomba! hehe..

Despite saying that I believe in prayers mind you! I prayed mostly about having peace of mind, perseverance, spiritual strength..and all that's mention in Galatian (I forgot the Chapters and verse number, it's all about fruit of the spirit). Kung naa ka ani brad, maski asa ka ibutang muasenso ka oy! Di na kinahanglan munaog pa ang Ginoo para nimo pinaagi sa imo pag-ampo para magmajik nimo ug bulawan.

Search first the Kingdom of God and everything shall be added unto you...gets nimo ni? Ayaw ko ingna muadto kag simbahan o attend kag prayer assembly para makita nimo ang "Kingdom"..

prayer is psychological. if you believe something good will happen, it WILL happen.
