If she did not wine and dine using government funds, then she's guilty of violating the law which states that government officials are not allowed to receive expensive gifts. At $15,000 and $20,000 for HER wedding anniversary, those are expensive gifts. You can buy a Lexus car there in the US for that money for crying out loud. And there is no law here in the Philippines saying that the President should eat the most expensive restaurant when she travels. Wala jud.

Look at the world statistics. Singapore has less than half the population of Metro Manila, smaller in land area than Manila, but has a nominal GDP of MORE THAN THE ENTIRE PHILIPPINES. So Springfield what in your opinion is the cause of our lack of ethics and intolerable character? Are we born into it? I know for a fact that there are people inclined to cheat in other countries as well, but they do not do it because from a young age they have learned that cheats do get caught and get punished severely. The problem is really the lack of funding of our schools, the more you ignore that reality, the more I'm convinced you're just deadset on finding excuses for PGMA and past admins. With a very high student to teacher ratio, it is impossible to sufficiently police classes to ensure that cheating is almost always caught, that is why students end up learning that you can get away with it, and hence they keep on doing it even up until college.

Thats how you put the fine line between STUDYING and LEARNING when we talk about EDUCATION . Its as simple as that . Cheating in school is in the infancy stage of CORRUPTION . When it matures , sooner or later , you'll be cheating the nation .

In the US this is simply not the case. Most of the cheaters in college there are international students, especially Indonesians and other Asians who incidentally also came from bad school backgrounds (eg low funding).

I would not know about that unless you can provide proofs in numbers by the percentage .

Well I can tell you because I personally am an employer that with so many applications, everything counts from the attitude of the person in the interview to the minute details of the resume, CV and yes, TOR scores. They are all important, and people who can't even get something as simple as passing a course in college, do not get jobs period, except in the very rare instances.

Obviously that is the case but not entirely factors whats i your TOR . By nature it is but by the flow of circumstances its not . Look at people like Bill Gates , he is more inclined on being a LEARNED person rather than being a STUDY person . I agree that when you procees interviews , good grades matters but it doesnt end there .

school reputation does matter, I am not going to choose a management graduate from UV over a management grad from Ateneo given the same salary.

The "something missing" in the education part is the funding. We are among the lowest spenders in the world per capita GDP when it comes to education, which is shocking given the fact that the Constitution expressly mandates priority funding for education. And much of the little funding that does get in, is siphoned off by corruption. Have you even seen the books they provide to kids nowadays in public schools? They are totally trash! I suggest you do some more research on this issue, so you will be aprised of the real situation of our schools here.

I am aware of that . I am emphasizing more on the proffessionals / laborers / blue collar workers the schools / training centers / institutions produced . Mao bitaw we are left with nothing because the cream of the crops goes abroad . These very people are absorbed as labor forces / manning forces for mere reasons of being FIlipinos and not just college graduates / undergraduates / young professionals . They are more on the side of LEARNING than STUDYING . In learning , it is a lifetime knowledge unlike studying , the next semester , recycle na sa bin ang gi tun-an .

Though FUNDING and IMPROVEMENT of schools indeed is a VERY BIG help , EMPLOYMENT should be focused on so EDUCATION will BOOST . If we retain the best educators , we produced the best students . From the best students we produce the best professionals and because there are good EMPLOYMENT chances , they stay in the Philippines help develop the country into a better one .

There is no reason why we should not dream of such things, but you are satisfied with a disabled dream, kanang kimpang nga vision sa pilipinas.
