I've observe a lot of misconceptions about certain breeds mostly rottweilers and pitbulls (my breeds) calling them 'ticking timebombs',devil dogs and the likes which associates them with the not so good labelling.
i stongly disagree on this,as this statement is exagerrated & completely unfair and would certainly NOT of great help to breed lovers & ambassadors, whose trying to promote this breed!i owned, bred, trained & shown both breeds(& other breeds also).for the past years in the company of these breeds,i havent encountered any whatsoever 'ticking' of these so called 'timebombs' in fact they are involved in therapy work mostly concerning special kids-who jump on their backs, pull their ears, play with them...even feeding & removing there bowls afterwards.and trust me you can even remove any food or toy in their mouth without any protests from them!of course i did not just achieve any of these overnight coz the same with any other breeds,TRAINING & SOCIALIZATION is essential,at the same time choosing bloodlines with proper temperaments from reputable breeders whose concerned about the temperament and conformation of what they're producing not just ignorant pairing of 2 purebreds and produce puppies,to which they themselves dont even know what they're producing...just counting & bragging about the 'red marks and green marks' in the papers of both parents(in fact i tend to wonder who coined this term which to me is a silly way to breed dogs and surely is just a MARKETING GIMMICK to sell pups!)
Anyway,THE USUAL SETTING HERE--the would be owner is awe struck with the rottweiler(or any other so called 'macho' breed of dog) of his neighbor, thinking how macho his image would be when seen walking with these burly breed or how smart and 'expert' looking he would look like having a belgian malinois at his side,as he have seen it in the mondio ring performing or by the bomb-sniffing K9 in the airport.so,without proper evaluation and research of both himself and the would be breed,he searched breeders (DAW?!) of those breeds in the NET or ask referrals from his friends (who doesnt have any credentials in dogs to ask about!).....he now owns a 'macho breed' puppy with 30 red-marked paper and a son of this or that extraordinary, super dog he now has something to brag about with his friends in the doggy website (very familiar scenario indeed!) as the pup grew up he finds it hard to handle the squirming,nipping,defecating-everywhere pup,who now is a 60 pound bundle of uncontrollable energy.so he put it in a cage and just feed's and water's it (or the house hold helper does the job) and just hose down its poop or pee and just tend to the dog when there's a dogshow or friends coming in,to brag about it.without proper pack structuring, socialization and training as well as very little human contact and exercise, the dog goes neurotic, fearfully aggressive towards other people or any new stimulus such as a car rumbling, vacuum cleaner, etc and dominant to its so called 'macho owner' who by now couldnt even walk his macho dog or couldnt even let it take its oral medication or supplement.at the time of feeding, the dog suddenly escapes, outside it went and fatally attacked a neighbor or a passerby...the bitten person on the otherhand happened to be a media personnel of some sort or a guy who is said to be..'a know it all spook who knew dogs'...he then talks to his friends, relatives, etc about this certain 'devil breed' which is not good with children, who will turn against its owner, and all the crap that goes with being ignorant and before long...the improper information spread thus the breed specific legislation(BSL),breed bans and breed discrimination began. And it all started,simply..with the IRRESPONSIBLE,IGNORANT OWNER whose just being egotistically envious of the neighborhood 'macho dog' or mondio ring fan of the highly driven malinois, who thinks having such a dog could help improve his image or to make the 'doggy-site 'people' in the internet insanely envious of him & his pet when they catch a glimpse of their portrait together....sounds familiar isnt it!?now, which is which...the breed or the deed?!
