you should have not mentioned "2nd year with backsubjects". you should only mention 2nd year and it's up to them to discover if you have backsubjects. They stop the interview because they want you to finish your studies first, it's more important than having a job. But if you really need the job find a way to let them know.
I have a lot of officemates here who are graduates of engineering, accountancy, Psychology, nursing, etc.etc who are still working for 3 years now because they NEED the job!. The idea that graduates will resign, NO! if they need the job.
