The mamba is really sexy and fast. It was supposed to be the mouse that I was going to buy but the shop has no stock so I go with the Sidewinder X8 instead.
Later, I read that the Mamba has finicky driver installations on 64 bit systems (it's a mouse it should be super easy to install), hard to remove usb cord once you attached it and use it wired (the X8 wire just snaps easily - without even having to use both hands thanks to the magnetic tips of the cord), battery drains fast (X8 uses 1 standard AA battery that last at least a week on a charge. With the mamba you can't switch it with just a AA or AAA battery cause it uses its own battery design), some people have problems using it on Mac OSX (this matters to me cause I use OSX too for photo editing), you can't see the actual dpi value when changing dpi. You need to remember the value-to-color setting you set in the software (X8 has an lcd display for dpi value). 5600dpi is nice and fast but even in fast FPS games like Crysis and COD, I don't even go over 2000dpi most of the time (I use Razer Destructor mat which is really slick and precise). And finally the over the top price (X8 is $25-30 cheaper). It's just too much. I mean even if you have money, $130 on a mouse is extravagant.
But my real question is why the heck 64bit users need to boot into driver compatability mode just to install a mouse driver? I mean seriously, its supposed to be high-end.
The only thing I like the most about this mouse is the design and the packaging.![]()
if you upgrade your driver and firmware, there are updates that increase the battery life. Been able to use it for 2 days straight without charging, via COD4 from me and cousins. Even if you do ran out of battery, just plug in the usb at the back of the Mamba, problem solved, play wire again
