with regards to what you said to reg.
the old religions came up with the COOL stories and ideas already.I didn't say these pagan religions came to exist after Christianity. Obviously, they existed long before Christianity. What I'm saying is that I believe accounts of "dying and rising gods" did not appear until around the 3rd or 4th century AD. That's what Mettinger found out with his study. It's the "nearly universal" consensus of the modern scholars who studied that topic. That means that, if anything, these religions may have been the ones who were influenced by Christanity's beliefs and not the other way around.
did i, ta? sorry, i just don't understand how you could discount old religions with the same ideas as christianity. observation lang ha, it seems anything which may confirm the idea of the paganistic origins of christianity is for you a threat to the religion. christianity is a way to god but not the only way to god. because you look at the human experience of religion in black and white, you might be missing out on all the other colors. but if this is your path, then i respect it. and please take this as it is: GOD BLESS![]()
motu-o man ka'g battle of mactan hands no?
historians gathered all necessary data for writing a history.
it's true according to them. according to our teachers.

c lapu2X, possibly pagano o moro.
kinsa may nisulong? c lapu2X o magellan?
nganong gitawag man ug bayani si lapu2X?
hinuklogi kini palihug hands.
@Miyay.. naunsa ka yay?
@Nasyo, my idea dwell within this premise, Did or did you not had a chance to prove, real-time, what you have read from the books?
whew![]()
^ you're basically saying, that anything not proved, in real-time, should be taken with a grain of salt.
correct?
Did Christianity borrow ideas from other religions? If you're like me, you grew up thinking it didn't. We were taught Christianity began with a big bang—with Jesus. Jesus changed the world with ideas about God that were new and revolutionary.
It ain't so. Our Christianity doesn't come from Jesus and a big bang. It comes from the accumulation of legends and theologies by people who believed in Jesus. The origin of those ideas wasn't Jesus. The origin was the myths, legends, philosophies, prejudices, literature, superstitions, and primitive cosmology of ancient western culture. Christianity was a product of its time and place.
We'll start thinking about Christian borrowing by asking a simple question:
By what criteria can we decide what ancient godman stories were new and original, and what ancient godman stories were myths built up from the religious ideas of their day?![]()
