There's a problem with your modem/router's DHCP broadcast.

To solve it without changing router/modem, just use static instead.

If I am not mistaken, this should be your set-up:

    Internet ---> ISP's Modem/Router ----> Your WIFI Router ---> PCs

If you get an invalid IP (169.xx.xx.xx), YOUR Wifi Router is not giving you a valid IP address through the wireless or the wired connection.

Here are the things I do regarding this:
    1. From your PC's end, repair the limited connection.
    2. Disconnect and reconnect the cable (if wired) or disconnect the limited wireless and reconnect again.
    2. Disable/Re-enable Wireless Network Connection (WNC) / Local Area Connection (LAC)
    3. Reset YOUR WIFI router.
    4. Reset the ISP's Modem, YOUR WIFI router and your all together.
    5. Set your LAC's speed and duplex to 10MB half.
    6. If the ISP's modem is set to ALWAYS ON, you can try to isolate if YOUR WIFI router is causing the problem by connecting a cable to the ISPs modem to one of your PCs and see if it gets a valid IP.
    7. If all these fails, you need to get in touch with your ISP already.

    I hope I didn't miss a step! haha

    hehehehe..

in my own little understanding basta mo start na gali nag 169 ang imong local IP meaning imong LAN CARD wala maka kuha og IP ADDRESS sa imong DNS server...

for example if connected wit DSL MODEM..then mo kalit lang og 169.xxx.xxx.xxx imo ip address or limited connection bo-ot pasabot wala mo hatag og saktong IP ADDRESS ang imong modem or either imong modem wala mo sink or deli connected sa imong ISP PROVIDER GL0BE/PLDT

sa akong pag sabot murag default IP na sya nga ihatag sa modem/router kong na-ay problema sa connection...

ang pag troubleshoot lang aneh try.. go to start then run, type cmd, enter, type, ipconfig /all so basically makita nimo ang 169.xxx.xxx.xxx. gateway and dns...

    type.. ipconfig /release

wait..until you see the all 0.0.0.0 result...

    then type again... ipconfig /renew

wait until taga-an ka og result sa new ip.. then try to ping some website.. type ping Yahoo! if na-ay reply.. then ok na imong connection...

if deli na mo work nga solution restart your modem/router....or restart your pc...

if wala gihapon.. then something wrong with your modem/router
