I mourn because she has helped our country. (a just normal reaction if you know the person who died, and if you're still human with emotions)
if you don't know what she did, read some history books.
(or maybe TS wants history lesson from this thread)

    OT:
most posts showed emotions. ana jud na.
im about to say something but this one said it all:

actually it is, in a way. "why mourn to a useless politician?" implies the leadership. how can it not be? (although the grammar is wrong, i think the TS is trying to ask why people are mourning for a politician, who in her opinion, sucked at being president.)

i'm sorry if sa imong pagsabot na OT ko...yep i know layo na kaayo ug nalabayan ang naistorya pero sa word lang nga "politician" all about ni Cory, di ba connected ang pagkamatay ni Ninoy?...in short, she was just a president by mistake because of his husband nga nahimong hero by mistake....(my opinion)

so by your logic, cory is the only person in the WHOLE PHILIPPINES who stood up for the marcoses?

and duhh, marcos died ages ago, so the dictatorship should have ended even if cory didnt stood up.lol

    on this statement:

If I may say my piece and how i understand it, back then, Ninoy was a rebellious senator who challenged the Marcos regime. He was a representative for the Filipino people, he was a voice amongst a group of politicians belonging to Marcos. Ninoy, along with Cory and their family, defied the odd, staging a hunger strike, peaceful protests, and living under the watchful eye and constant threats of the dictatorship.

When Ninoy came back, majority if not all of the Filipino people were excited as the icon for reforms has once again come back to be the voice of the masa, but only to find out, Ninoy being assassinated as he was coming down from his plane. Though everyone at that time was scared and in panic, Cory took the reigns and stood in Ninoys place to push for reforms and called for peaceful protests. On feb 25, 1986, Cory Aquino, along with the Filipino people, triumphed against a dictatorship that brought every Filipino grief and misery.

You see, sometimes we need these figures to inspire us at times of adversity. That is Cory's contribution to us. Yes it was the people power that brought back democracy, but Cory Aquino was its champion.

If there was no Cory Aquino, there would not have been a Filipino soceity as we know it today. Yes we may not have been run by Ferdinand Marcos until now because he had died, but we could be under the same dictatorship that crushed every Filipinos right and freedom.

That why TS, it would have been better, if you thought out what you had said first. Yes it would have been irrelevant to have quoted one's age as basis of knowledge on this matter, but rather it would have been best if one could have assessed the FILIPINO in all of us.

Mabuhay and Pilipinas, si Cory, at ang Istorya.net.
