--- Bible does not teach us to be evil but to be good. The sad part is that the teaching taught us to believe in him because of that belief we are obliged to follow his commandments. And this is what people are avoiding.
--- Bible becomes wrong when people are using it on thier own interest and agenda. It becomes a political political in nature when church dictates the decision of its people. So does it mean we can use the Bible to serve other interest. "REMEMBER THIS MGA BRAD, IF THE INTEREST DOES NOT POINT TO GOD THEN ITS A WRONG TEACHING and INTERPRETATION". His teaching is about LOVE not ABUSE. Always as the Question the purpose of how things is to be RIGHT.
Do you then accept it right to fight people or kill them in extreme cases, if there is a clear indication that your life is in danger? Cite some verses for me that clearly told us that we have the right to do so.

its not our teaching brad. Bible teaches us remember... if somebody will hit you on the right cheeck give him the other cheek... so it means to say you don't have to fight for sure. what ever your interpretation on that brad, it just never encourages for you to retaliate. Its never in a christian doctrine...

But malic told me once its a sin to turn ur back... then you might ask him about it. We serve a totally different God.

I can not argue anymore with your answer since it pointed out what I am trying to mean when I say that it's not for us to fight out evil from the world. We ordered to resist evil by fleeing from it and not to face it head-on. The thread was about whether Jesus cared about stopping evil in this world which if that was his concern, how come he died in the cross apparently without objections. There is no sense in trying to save the world from evil for God when God himself had deemed the world worthy to be destroyed in the end.

suppression of freedom is evident in some parts of world. ie. cults.

...and some religious organizations, though we don't regard them as cults, gear towards this approach.

How can we stop something that God allows it to exists in the first place?

Religious fanaticism that embark to cleanse the world of evil are doomed to fail because of human nature. It can be done only through suppression of human freedom which is evil just the same.

That's what hatred can do to people, transforming them into the thing that they hated most. It is sad for people to start on something with good intention and ends up with the wrong (evil) means.

It maybe that Christ ordered us to strive individually (existentially) to be a perfect Christians in his manner, but I guess for some there is a great temptation in striving instead to turn other people into a perfect Christian, which is now the mean drive of Christendom.

Sad...sad..every time some people with Bible's in their hands comes to our house and starts talking about 'The Good News", they never always fail to remind us about our sins and hell fire.
