i have TCP/IP installed. infact i set an ip address 192.10.10.199.
if you have any adapter installed like dial up adapter it could be that you have set the IP of the wrong adapter. the ip address should be on your built in ethernet port.
check your LED on your lan card if it has an activity or check your patchcord if tighten. You can still ping the loopback address even if you haven't patch to your switch/hub.
You cannot set the IP 192.10.10.199 since this is a real IP address on the internet. Reserved Class C IP addresses range 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255.
lets clear things out. are you connected to a dsl router or is this just purely a LAN connection?
Obviously he is trying to set up a LAN not knowing about private addresses since 192.10.10.199 is still a Compuserve IP and would not be given out by a Philippine ISP unless they bought a few blocks from Compuserve.
im connected to dsl router

Call Globe and ask them. These are all provided to you by your ISP if it is not dynamically assigned to you automatically.
