@ davybri - sakto ka sa mo first post... and to your 2nd post, i never forget where I come from last summer didto mi sa bukid kuyog ako husband we stayed for how many days and my husband liked it there, so we came back how many times already recently was last week. I want to show to my husband where I came from and the hardships and trials my parents went through there. I told him the path that my mother took from going to school everyday. From the main road towards the house of mama it took around 30mins to drive then from the main road padung skul how many kilometers away from the highway. Then, I told him imagine mama walked how many kilometers from their house going to that school, I even pointed out the school to my husband when we are driving there.

Knowing my mother's childhood has been my passion, asking my lola and my auntie about it really made me realized that I have an extra-ordinary mom. Last week ligo mi dagat, my auntie told me she remembered when they were young every afternoon lakawon daw nila gikan sa bukid padung dagat kahuman pang-hurnal nila sa bukid, nya kuha sila isda sa dgat nya dad-on sa balay para libre daw sud-an. My auntie said, dghan daw kaayo sila kwarta sauna napa si mama but pagka-minyo ni mama start na hubog2x ako lolo. I told my auntie na basin di ka let go si lolo ni mama mao na sya ga-inom2x kay kinamaguwangan man si mama.

And now, my mother's 2 sisters same pud style sako mama 3 kabuok anak nya ng-negosyo pud. Ang usa sa bukid ang usa sa squatters... One time suko ako mama ngano daw gpa-usab ang balay sako auntie sa squatter's kay kas daw kwarta and di daw to nila balay kay mu abot ang time basin i-demolish daw. and my auntie sad, Unsa naman si Inday nga ang halin ra man na ice water ako gi-gamit pa-usab sa balay . In 1 year my auntie saved about 100,000php halin ra sa icewater, ice, ice-candy og tubig. Ako auntie sa bukid ron, naa pud tindahan and lending ang capital ako mama ghatag niya....

lejean, basically your mother is right....its not merely about what money you have now, but it how best you can spend that money....na develop sa imong parents ang sense of the future para makakita sila kung asa padung ilang kwarta in the near future. Sakto kaau imong mama, there is no sense in making upgrades to a house that is practically not there's in the first place, gi huna2x ta sa imong auntie na temporary lang ta jud, make repairs (that are needs), but not anything else...that cost of upgrading could have been saved some more, or made into investments to create more money and then maybe they could buy a house in a better neighborhood just like what your parents did.

My auntie finished until Grade 3 i think, but di jud kana intelligent jud hina2x sad sya ba.. but at least she mimic my mom's attitude of being frugal. Kane lage tua-sik ang kwarta libog na unsay gastu-on.

Iyaha 3rd highschoool pa eldest gagmay pa ang uban...layo pa tawn sa tina-e but i have heard na-ay money ako cousin gi-sudlan sako auntie every month yata para yaha college but it's the now lang jud la nila gi-andaman sad.
