strictly speaking many buddhists are atheists since in buddhism a superior being (as "god" is often defined) is not necessary. but i don't know of any buddhist who's a "naturalist" or evolutionist. evolution is a relatively new system of ideas, atheism had been around for centuries, or even thousands of years. there had been many atheists who never imagined anything like evolution. and there are many atheists at present who just don't care about evolution, let alone believe in it.

I think you're mixing two topics in one... when you say, Atheist vs Science... that's an illogical logic or in-analogy analogy. Get my point? Atheist believes in science because there are reasons to believe like facts, things that your 5 senses can attain. But if you argue with big bang, I would suggest read science books or at least follow Dr. Michio Kaku. Now since you define Atheism as faith where your title serves an illogical in its manner, Atheists belief is not defined as faith (per your definition - faith: a belief that is not based on proof) because we see the facts and based on existing proof not some story telling stories that all came from god because the bible says so. See the difference now?

Atheism DO NOT DEFY SCIENCE LAWS! Get this, since atheist do not believe in the existence of god, atheism would go for logical reasons [i.e science and its laws...]. When you say DEFY, it's the same meaning as something considered as impossible. It is still contradictory in terms.
